Alongside photo weaving and other analogue montage interventions, I explore photo embroidery. Inspired by the ancient Chinese belief of the invisible ‘Red String of Fate’ - which encapsulates a universal story of love and destiny - I use a needle and red thread to create connections in the reworked and reimagined family portraits. 🪡
I put a line of red washi tape along the gallery wall that represents the magic string that according to the legend, connects two people that are destined to meet each other, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. It may stretch or tangle, but will never break. 🧵
