Latimmier is deeply honored to be included in @metcostumeinstitute ’s latest exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The exhibition explores the importance of sartorial style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora. The exhibition features two looks from our Collection No. 4 ‘Positions of Power’, presented under the theme Freedom.
We could not be happier that our work, which stands on the shoulders of the Harlem Renaissance and fellow Finnish designers, researchers and other creatives of color, has been recognized as part of the history of Black dandyism. We particularly want to extend our thanks to our local ballroom community for guiding us and teaching us about performance of gender and identity.
Thank you to The Costume Institute, Guest Curator Monica L. Miller and the institue staff for including us and working with us to make this happen.
While we have been recently more quiet, we’ve only been patiently planning and working on our next creative outings, more on those soon!
