Outdoor Shooting 101. The Red Jacket 🔥
Bold colour always wins.
Especially when it’s @montanenewzealand / @montaneofficial red out in the wild. This jacket is tough and technical, perfect for shooting in super rough conditions.
If you have ever hiked the the 2 peaks @brokenriver from the Accom you will know how steep and tricky the terrain is. Add gale force winds...
Huge shout to Kate from @coxandco absolute cariad ❤️ for producing the shoot and then smashing some BTS.
And of course @jayfrench out there capturing the sickest stills while we made sure the talent were wearing the right colours for the terrain.

In 2014 in Tonga I launched my first drone.
No rules, no manuals, no screen to see where I was flying. The footage was shaky, the battery was shocking but I had a flying camera.
Fast forward to 2025 and drones are part of my everyday kit.
The tech and regulations have changed but that buzz of getting a camera in the air in seconds is still the same.
Kicking off a little series of drone stories with a throwback to that very first flight to a more recent capture.
Shooting for @loropiana via @nzmerinoco I used the drone to capture the wide New Zealand landscapes and the high-country merino stations where their fine wool begins its journey. Those aerial perspectives bring the scale and story together in a way nothing else can.
ANOTHER co-lab with the incredible @coxandconz and the very talented director @polbaril with local support from @oliviaanderrson .

Part one. Field notes from Fiji.
The sky pressed low, heavy with rain that wouldn’t leave.
It was out there, somewhere beyond the grey curtain.
In the meantime, laughter echoed from the ocean.
Bare feet. Broken boards. big smiles.
Joy that didn’t care about the weather or what board they were riding.
No infinity pool for us, just wire mesh, a rubbish dump and a feeling that the real work was still to come.

Autumn in the high country. Thousands of merino sheep. A crew of tough, warm-hearted humans. One for the books.
Just wrapped a brand piece for @nzmerino , following the annual autumn muster at the breathtaking Omarama Station with Richard and Annabel Subtil and their incredible team of shepherds (and dogs).
Dust, sweat, snow on the tops and stories in every frame. This is why I do what I do.

Most shoots we’re trying to dodge the rain. This time? We were chasing it.

The brief: capture a mish where three trampers get caught in a downpour and still love it because of the gear.
One of those shoots where the challenge was the story.
Lots of moments to hit on this one so heaps of planning to tell the story.
