The LARB Publishing Workshop features two practical tracks: the Book Track with Tobi Harper of Red Hen Press, where Fellows learn how to edit, design, and market a book; and the Magazine Track with Jonathan Hahn of Sierra Magazine, where Fellows collaborate to publish their own magazine. Both tracks allow Fellows to gain practical experience and build valuable skills for future careers in the publishing industry!

We are thrilled to announce that Ruth Dickey (@ruthdickey206 ) will be LARB’s 2026 Publishing Workshop Keynote Speaker!
Ruth Dickey, now the Executive Director of the National Book Foundation, has spent 30 years working at the intersection of community building, writing, and art. Ruth began her career as a teaching artist, leading poetry workshops in soup kitchens, drop in center, and the DC Public Schools. She is the author of several books, has received a Mayor’s Arts Award from Washington, DC, and served as a judge in Fiction for the 2019 National Book Awards.
