Boxes is a series of 12 compositions by Matthew Brandt, created through his exploration of the underground vaults at the Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena.
"I punched holes in the bottom cardboard façade of each box. Each hole corresponding to star formations mapped according to a particular photograph taken from the observatory. Where there is a star in the picture, there is a hole in the box. These boxes were held up to the sun and light shined through. I then made a photograph." - Brandt

A decade later, in 2015, The Lapis Press collaborated closely with Polidori to transform six images from that shoot into a limited edition series of pigment prints that capture the faded grandeur of one of Los Angeles's most legendary establishments.

Derived from 3D slides taken by @stephen.shore in 1974 with a Stereo Realist camera, these three limited editions reimagine the stereoscopic effect as lenticular prints. In collaboration with Shore, The Lapis Press transformed the stereo images into 20 x 18 inch lenticular photographs, offering an illusion of depth without the need for a stereo viewer.
"Now, almost 50 years later, The Lapis Press has developed a digital technology, creating layers that accentuate spatial depth which, coupled with a lenticular screen, produces a print with a three-dimensional image. My old stereo transparencies have a new life." - Stephen Shore
