Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Board of Police Commissioners will hear presentations from the Department’s South Bureau Human Trafficking Task Force with local community group, Saving Innocence; discuss the Department’s pretextual stop policy with presentations from Department experts and PUSH LA; review quarterly traffic crash data; and review the Commission Investigation Division’s 2025 Philanthropy report.
This morning, we woke to the tragic loss of Sergeant Shiou Deng, Serial No. 35049 of West LA Division. Sergeant Deng was a dedicated member of the LAPD with over twenty-six years of service to the people of Los Angeles. We offer our condolences to Sergeant Deng’s family, friends, and colleagues. Sergeant Deng, you will be deeply missed.

Following a unanimous decision, the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Barragan as the Inspector General for the Los Angeles Police Department. “Mr. Barragan is a dedicated public servant who brings a breadth of experience representing the people of the Central District in civil rights matters. We are excited to have someone of his caliber join our team and we look forward to his service in this role,” said Commission President Dr. Erroll G. Southers.
