In the last week, several of you responded to one of my stories in which I offered to help provide resources to contextualize and historicize whatās unfolding right now in Gaza and the West Bank. So, given that Iām in Brazil right now and have too much time on my hands, I decided to put together a comprehensive list of my all-time favorite resources on the matterāvideos, documentaries, films, podcasts, lectures, books, and more⦠I was planning to send it to those who asked, but I decided itās too important to not share publicly. So itās with a heavy heart that I make this post. I hope it can help light the way for some of you.
Personally, I have spent the last several weeks feeling a disorienting flurry of helplessness, anger, sadness, and rage at what my country and Israel are inflicting upon innocent civilians right now in Palestine. It is completely unconscionable what the US and Israel are unleashing upon innocent civilians, and it will go down in history as one of the worst modern cases of genocide denial.
To be clear, the October 7 attack on innocent Israeli citizens was abhorrent and represents the worst excesses of fundamentalist ideologies. Itās awful, and I can only imagine what it feels like to hear about and see images of that attack as a Jewish person, in an environment where far-right Christian white nationalist hate crimes are once again on the rise, thanks to emboldened far-right movements in North America, Europe, and Australia. So please know that I say this in solidarity with my Jewish friends, family, and colleagues, as much as I do with with my Arab and Muslim friends and colleagues.
That said, Israelās response has been historically disproportionate and cruel. More than 8,000 innocent civilians killed after only three weeks, 40% of whom are young children killed by US bombs dropped by Israel. Thatās more children than were killed in all armed conflict around the entire world in any of the last three years⦠in just three weeks. Itās unfathomable. And itās genocidal. And thatās just in Gaza alone.

So I didnāt share this when it happened, but my work on Cautious Clayās debut album Deadpan Love was featured prominently in two images at Appleās keynote event last year, alongside a cover artwork for Chiiild, which was designed by one of my all-time-faves @samuelburgessjohnson . Iām honored, but all credit to @cautiousxclay for creating such a beautiful debut album š

Today marks two years since Squid released their album, Bright Green Field, via @warprecords . Here are some never-before-posted views of the project Iāve been sitting on for some reason š„²
1. The cassette!
2. Green LP cuz itās pretty
3. For the special edition glow-in-the-dark LP,
Warp asked me to reimagine the cover artwork. I wanted to make it feel different but at the same time not change too much. So I played with the ideas of time and light, transforming the same landscape into a field of misty morning dew. Never shared this before but still stoked on how it turned out.
4. A BGF crosswalk signal I found in SĆ£o Paulo

Also, on a personal note, I want to thank you (yes, you!) for continuing to support me and my work. You may have noticed, but Iāve been off IG for a while now, posting pretty sparingly for the last year or so. Itās been a big year of rest, transition, recalibration for me ā a year of travelling, visiting friends and family, and also moving across the world with my partner, settling down again in the Americas, and learning a new language. It took me a while to realize, but before leaving Melbourne I was exhausted (from pandemic fatigue, overcommitting myself to work for a long time, and being so far away from friends and family during months of social and political unrest back home). Iām incredibly grateful to have been able to take this time to reset, and Iām grateful to you all here for continuing to support my work by following along. Also a gigantic thank you to collaborators and clients who have trusted me with their projects this past year and enabled me to work on some of the most exciting stuff Iāve had the pleasure of working on yet. Canāt wait to share some of that work with you all in the coming weeks ~ Iām gonna try to post most of it before the new year. Ok thatās all for now. Thx yāall!! š„¹
P.S. Iām currently scheduling commissioned work through February. Get in touch if youād like to work together!
