How many feel the illusion of identity tear us apart?
Lost in a world that tracks your every move.
How many feel just like me? How many of the young and ambitious feel connected to the cell of their cities? How many of the veterans of time feel disconnected from the concept of their core? To be fed a dream then have it beaten out your system.
Watched by others but always being a ghost in the machine. Constantly living in a system that crushes us under the boot of “progress”. Forever entangled in the ropes of injustice that stretch our limbs and hang us up like aged posters on a wall. Visible for the world to see yet the in-between of flesh and mind is nothing but particles of a phantom; a person made for a place but not a place made for my person. Our bodies put up for purposes of pumping and identification from the living machine.
The city crunches us. The cameras capture us. The companies keep our corpse.
Escape can only be felt in the drowning of thoughts. The untethering of identity. Our souls intangible yet untouched by the tether of matter. Cornered by the cannibalism of capital, we quiver in the skin we’re given and hope to only numb the cancer that is our captured conscious. This illusion is what I call; disillusionment.
