Exhibition of sculptors @boryskrylovart , @olessydoruk and Stephen Duncan ‘Voices From Ukraine’ was launched tonight at @lambetharchives . With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 the UK sculptor Stephen Duncan reached out to the Ukrainian sculptors in solidarity with their country and travelled to Kyiv in 2024 to work on a new collaboration between them, Voices From Ukraine, ‘creation in a time of destruction’. The central group of their collaboration uses the steel of spent shells to create 3-dimensional poetry, with poems written by Stephen Duncan offering viewers a deeper understanding of the realities and human cost of the war, while also highlighting resilience, solidarity and responsibility. It was a pleasure to meet Stephen Duncan and Borys Krylov, who left Ukraine for the opening. Oles Sydoruk is currently a soldier defending Ukraine. The exhibition continues till April 24th. #exhibitionlondon #ukrainiansculptor #ukrainiansculpture #londonexhibition #ukrainianart

This year marks 45 years since the Brixton Uprising. The demolition of housing in Railton Road, Brixton, on 12th April 1981, after riot damage includes an advert for Now! magazine featuring Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Image captioned: 'The Brixton Front Line area, Railton and Mayall Roads and the surrounding complex of streets, was made famous by the riots, but has long been a ghetto and slum area. The neighbourhood was a victim of the Brixton Centre Plan, and also suffered from property speculation and private landlordism, housing left empty, or tenanted and not maintained. It's no surprise that poor people, the homeless, victimised minorites of all kind, gambling houses and unlicensed clubs move into an area like this'.From 'As Safe As Houses', an exhibition on short-life housing in Lambeth put together in 1981 by Julian Quan with photographs by Peter Murphy. #Lambeth #Brixton #BrixtonUprising #CarltonMansionsArchive

This exhibition, Voices from Ukraine, features the sculptures of three members of the Royal Society Of sculptors, Stephen Duncan, Oles Sydoruk @olessydoruk and Borys Krylov @boryskrylovart and their international collaboration in Kyiv and London. With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in Feb 2022 the UK sculptor Stephen Duncan reached out to the Ukrainian sculptors, Oles Sydoruk and Boris Krylov, in solidarity with their country and travelled to Kyiv in 2024 to work on a new collaboration between them, Voices From Ukraine, ‘creation in a time of destruction’. The central group of their collaboration, Voices From Ukraine, uses the steel of spent shells to create 3-dimensional poetry, with poems written by Stephen Duncan and commissioned for the collaboration, ‘offering viewers a deeper understanding of the realities and human cost of this brutal war, while also highlighting resilience, solidarity and moral responsibility’(Oles Sydoruk). This exhibition follows on from their recent installation at the House Of Commons in February 2026, (sponsored by local MP Helen Hayes and mentioned in the House’s Ukraine debate on 24 Feb 2026) and aims to raise the profile in the UK of Ukraine and its defence against the invader. The people of Lambeth has been very generous in their support of Ukraine and her refugees caused by the war and it is fitting that this exhibition is to be held at the Lambeth Archive gallery, close to Lambeth Town Hall and the centre of Brixton, an area that has given refuge to many with the Homes For Ukraine scheme. #lambeth #lambethart #southlondonart #ukrainianart #LondonSculpture #ukraine #slavaukraini

Next Saturday 14 March between 4-5 pm is the second in our series of workshops: Mindfulness Session: A Guide to Mindfulness: Clarity, Creativity & Flow with artist: Ezgi Demir @brandart at @lambetharchives This practical session explores how mindfulness can help reduce overthinking, ease mental overload and improve focus. Designed for a broad audience, it offers accessible tools for clearer thinking and emotional balance. Ezgi Demir introduces the Holistic Quotient (HQ©), a framework that brings together logic, emotion and creativity to support better decision-making and adaptability. The session highlights how analytical thinking and intuition can work together rather than compete. Through short guided exercises including a simple drawing activity and a flow-based experiment, participants learn techniques to quiet mental chatter and shift into a more balanced, creative state. Attendees leave with practical strategies they can apply in everyday life to enhance clarity, reduce stress and build confidence. ©HQ Note: The Holistic Quotient (HQ) is a framework developed by Ezgi Demir integrating logic, emotion and creativity for clearer thinking and performance. We have added an extra tickets to this sold out workshop. #mindfulnesspractice #mindfulnessworkshop #brixtonmindfulness #freelondonworkshop #londonmindfulness
