@voguesingapore April 2026 Print Issue Fifty “RetroFuture” - a pivoting point in my career. And I get to represent my heritage while at it with my artistry 🇵🇭
I am at a huge loss for words. Goosebumps and chills EVERYWHERE! Thank you endlessly Sophie Tan for the beautiful words and for reaching out to my team and I, offering the honour of writing an article about my journey re-discovering the Philippine sound and its interpretations. It’s beyond belief that Ms. Tan mentioned that this entire article, on Southeast Asian artists building their sound around their communities and cultures, was inspired by her coming across my recent radio set… But equally, I knew that the whole point of me here in music is to inspire, and the way I’m doing it is with noise. I’m incredibly honoured.
The opening words of the article itself brought me straight to tears because it’s true - I really did go through a myriad of music styles and genres but it was missing connection. My current artistic expression and voice, bridging pre-colonial sounds of the Philippines with electronic music, has brought so much joy to not only just me, but my community.
What was born out of my curious mind has transformed into fruition, in which I only strive to continue, nurture, and share with you all. After my recent personal life experiences, seeing this and reading the stories written about the featured artists and I, brought a sense of grounding. I am reminded that I have myself, and that my inner voice, ideas, and instinct are all the reason to thrive in my creativity. So if you have that idea, just do it.
This editorial photo was taken and directed by none other than my sister, Grace Nicole. There wasn’t anyone else that I trusted to take this lead, she’s always my go-to (in every sense haha). I’m so excited for what’s to come for her and her career! I love you so much 🖤
Maraming maraming salamat. Those in SEA please send me pictures of the magazine if you come across them!!! Haven’t received my physical copies yet skakskaksksk.
Cheers to this new chapter. Music on the way.

🇵🇭 Welcome to my journey of rediscovering the pre-colonial Philippines and its indigenous sound. This is a deeply important pursuit for me as a Filipina electronic DJ, and if you know me personally, you’ve definitely heard me talk about my passion around it.
The intro to this set features the kulintang (a Philippine gong ensemble), which I’ve explored and trickled throughout the mix. Alongside its traditional form, I’ve interpreted electronic alternatives of this sound, drawing parallels to percussive instruments from across the globe. This sample comes from Kandindang Tu Koryo – “Lalabutan (Barter),” Maramag, Bukidnon, a research-based, indigenous-inspired dance and music project that brings Mindanaon epics, traditions, and folklore to life—reminding us why sharing and preserving these narratives matters !!!!
This set bridges ancestral memory with contemporary electronic sound, featuring phenomenal artists like
@wilhelminawilhelmina22 and @obese.dogma777 (fka similarobjects), whose work resonates with this intersection of tradition and modern electronic expression. Cheers to 2026, where I only hope to expand this adventure! Maraming maraming salamat.🥺❤️🥺❤️

🪽 Throughout my journey as a DJ, many of you have seen me move through a wide range of genres - sometimes even at opposite ends of the spectrum. Thank you to everyone who has stayed up until now after watching little me move through my career 🙆🏻♀️ I’ve genuinely loved every phase and each one captured a moment in my life and reflected who I was at the time.
Now, stepping into this chapter of my artistry as I steadily come out of my work break, I finally feel grounded in something that truly feels like me - my most authentic self.
I’ve always been a curious soul! Without those phases of exploration, I wouldn’t have been able to build the sound that I have today. Experimentation will always remain at the heart of what I do, for as long as I can do this.
I’m excited to share what’s coming next and to bring you along on this journey. See you soon 🖤🥸

sharing my love for this documentary as I haven’t felt this level of soul while watching a film / documentary in a long time. or ever.
something i practice is discovering through all forms of art. whether its rediscovering myself, or drawing inspiration for music, or being inspired to pick up a new skill. this documentary is exactly all of that and more (to me at least). i am moved.
