Painting two paintings in one allows me to examine my relationship to loss. Each brushstroke is a memory that I love, and making the choices to paint over those memories with a painting of the future, where I don’t know the outcome- it puts all my trust in my future abilities. To have faith in myself, that I can make something just as beautiful, the next go around. That the next painting will be a reflection of my soul as well, and that the two will become one in an eternal harmonic symphony.
A friend of mine once told me the moonshaddow in this orientation with the moons crescent hanging down, is something auspicious, so I chose to honor that moon phase as I would any other 💕 not to tempt fate, but to know all that unfolds is just as it always will be.

There’s no place like home ✨ This trip back to where I called home for so many years reminded me of what I already know so deep within my soul- that my place, my peace, my joy is deep within nature, listening to the birds, getting lost in the change of the sky.
All the reasons I moved out here came flooding back to me, and the magic wrapped me up and swept me away as the land whispered “welcome home”.
Of all the things in life that bring immense awe and pleasure, nature has been my greatest love affair. My vow to protect her as much as I can and honor her beauty as long as I live is renewed and supported.

The next five months I’ll be funneling this magic into the works for my solo show which has already begun to shape up to be all about my greatest love- the one with this earth, with its creatures, with the energy that cycles through and sustains us. And with the release of the show I’ll release myself back into the wilds of the land that is a part of me and go to live and love again amongst it, fight for it, and hopefully bring more healing, as it healed me, as it shaped me.
I return now to my little world with immense gratitude for the wild places I have gotten to explore and a fire in me to experience and fight for it all.

A friend recently told me it’s like I’m on rumspringa since I left the desert. And it feels that way too, since I’ve made my decision to go back…
The only place I feel truly regulated is in nature, even if it’s a trail a few minutes from town, even if it’s laying on a patch of grass under a tree.
I feel more at peace under the stars at night surrounded by wild animals than in the confines of a rented house with creepy neighbors, lights that never turn off, and constant, uncontrollable noise.
I never knew how much city life affected me until I left NYC for living in a tent in the desert for years, then left that and came back to civilization.
Can I live in the world? Sure, I have proven to myself that I can… but it takes a constant effort to find the balance of my every day life with finding a way to be in nature. And honestly, despite all my efforts… it’s not enough.
I’d rather live without running water the rest of my life than in the artificial concrete jungle of America.
That’s just me. I don’t believe everyone need be so extreme, but I do think we all need nature. Like BAD.
The farther we get away from nature as a society, the farther we get away from each other. It creates a gap where greed, money, consumerism seep in… filling holes they can never truly fill, leaving us feeling empty and disconnected.
Nature can heal us- I truly believe that- but we need to put Earth first. And as a whole, we are so far from doing that. All this chaos, all this disruption… I have to believe it will lead to some kind of reset. The Earth deserves it. She deserves to be free of all our disease.
Anyway, that’s just me… what are your thoughts?
