I am a TIME POOR DAD and I am a coach. I lift and I compete. Highs and lows and everything in between. Sets, reps, programs... been there done that. I started this sport when I was 16 years old... I am now 35 years old, and unlike many others - I am still going. They say a wise man learns from his mistakes - but a wiser man learns from the mistakes of others. I know what its like to keep going when everything in life is against you - and i know what its like when you have all the cards in your hand. I also know what its like when you have a new born baby and a demanding job... I have 3 sons, so yeah I have repeated a few things. I have adapted training programs to suite my needs at each turn and I have done the same for many others. It is what sets me part, real life experiences that a 20 year old kid won't have. Don't skip LEG day. It builds character. 20 rep sets really hit hard - and when done this way you feel everything. Quads, hamstrings, glutes, traps, biceps, mid and upper back... core. Physical activity goes a very long way when it comes to regulation of character. You need to move, you need to burn energy even when you're an adult. Physical activity has many positive benefits when it comes to mental health. You are also setting an example when it comes to your kids and their world view of exercise. It's not a chore, it's meant to be fun. When I can I include my sons when training. The goal for them is simple - just enjoy it. That was a good session, strength is continuing north. For volume in a single set this is a PR. What i find hardest is still the cardio aspect of the 10s. Legs certainly had more, even the back too, it was just so taxing on the heart and lungs. In terms of progress I will sit it here for a bit and build the conditioning aspect of this lift. That will then allow me to continue to work this north. Last week it was 193kg x 10, the week before 190kg x 10 and the weeks before that 180kg x 10. An achievable goal would be 220kg x 10s - a nice 5 plates a side. Still foregoing the belt or sleeves - just want the real strength throughout the body.
