BEHIND THE SCENES of BODY DOUBLE!! Just some fun behind the scenes with the crew, FONTINE, and lil ol George šš
VFX artists make whatās in our wild imaginations come alive. Being able to bend the rules of physics like zero-g apartment floating is whatās awesome about creating a world for film! š
For this project we worked with Andrew Roshka (@roshka_down ) - an unreal talent with a serious wealth of experience šš. We learned so much from him! With the right knowledge and eye, so much is possible. Honestly, some things were easier than we thought they would be because he knew exactly what to do, and we could do even more than we thought was possible. VFX artists are awesome. šØš§ š»
Technically speaking there was a ton of compositing. We spent lots of the day pretending to float objects lol. Andrew and Nik also took 3D scans of some objects (like the pen) and emulated the focus and light virtually so it could float through space as FONTINE touched it. Feel free to ask questions if you have any weād love to share!!! šļøšØ

A little more Astrid stills with BTS - š„š„ We shot with SuperSpeeds to get that shallow DOF Iām used to with stills lenses, with a more cinematic quality that didnāt take up too much space and weight for small spaces and primarily handheld operating. We needed to work fast, and being able to open up the aperture to T1.3 indoors and at night meant we could light more subtly, easily incorporating surrounding ambient light, that brings in colours being bounced around off surfaces and filling in shadows of the skin. The challenge can then be getting enough contrast if you donāt have time to neg and flag too much!
š”I would love to tweak forever, really see how much I could control, but at the end of the day it doesnāt serve everyone to spend that much time lighting. Being able to step into a room and know how to achieve your vision (or get darn close) right aways is the goal! But you canāt always move a roof or a wall or a fixture to get a light in just the right place - you have to work in real spaces. But this is what can define your creative voice, your obstacles and how you use them or the decisions you make to work around them creates uniqueness.
Sometimes you get the perfect foggy night with a street lamp in the right placeš, but lots of times Iām figuring out what to do about a white wallā¦or the reflection on the car hood, or the sun setting too fastā¦but those are the best learning experiences for sure!
ššyou shooters have any tips on balancing your vision and desire to tweak with practical constraints, Iād love to hear em šš
LES FAILLITES DāASTRID - A 6 episode French comedy drama I had the pleasure of DP-ing for @elenasturklulu (with @jessederock also DPing during the show).
I loved shooting a story in St.B with the character and life of St.B through Elenaās eyes. I was able to come on very early since we shot the demo together, and finding all the right locations and diving into the story and characters over months (years even, on and off) was so special to do with this team. Elena and @tiffanyrozall and I really locked in during pre-production together, and our friendship became a source of strength for me during the whole production.
I really worked on trying to be a good problem solver and try to do the best I could with the time and budget we had, while keeping everything in perspective. Iām so proud of this project and what we all accomplished. It was tiring but so rewarding!
@benstoufferwpg thanks for all your hard work, problem solving with me and getting us to the end of the day with beautiful images in the can. Youāre a great gaffer and youāre also much more than that!
@aubrey.stewart.31 and @coyote__mae thanks for being my rocks and caring about the image as much as me!
@sidneyli_ I always love having you on set whenever I get the chance :)) thanks for having my back
@elenasturklulu + @tiffanyrozall ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø woah that was a wild ride and appreciate both your leadership and dedication to your art!!!
A very late 2025 recap! My posting was dismal last year, so I am making up for lost time. Canāt wait to post more of the sweet projects that made 2025 such a huge growing and learning experience year for me in my work!!š„
I didnāt have enough slides to talk about so many things including buying a house! Woah.š³
ā¤ļøFriends who helped me out last year personally, who listened to me and fed me and cared for my family, you got me through. This includes my roomies and my family - thank you for your never ending love!

The most amazing memories here :) from parties, covid lockdowns, then babies. Itās been wonderful.
Iām very sentimental right now. From our 20ās to our 30ās, we built our lives here! Me, David, Sarah and Taylor bought this duplex and made it into our one big home. There was parties, and gardening, two kitties, and Covid lockdowns. Some of these rooms went from bedrooms, to offices, to nurseryās. Megan joined us over Covid and Iāll always remember those times of bonding with coffees on the stoop, creating our cooking blog, and staying up super late with games and movies.
It was so great for hosting parties with the two living spaces, but now with new babies, we need something that works with an even bigger family.
So we bought it! We bought a space where we can continue the dream of sharing and hosting while the families grow. Our Folks studio will be out of the new space too. Iām sure it will be featured in some projects again.
Thanks for all the memories everyone.

The first time I met Dominique Rey she was my professor at the UofM School of Art. I took her photography courses and performance art courses whenever possible. š I was extremely inspired and pushed in these classes to analyze and critique my work, instincts, process, and viewpoint! It was so valuable.
š·Dominique asked if I would help her photograph something for herself near the end of my time there, and I was so honored. It was definitely a special and exciting opportunity for me to learn close up! š We did 3 or so sessions with her in various location with her creative and fun kiddos, which ended up as one part of the MOTHERGROUND creative process. This was over 5 years ago now šÆ. It was a unique opportunity to watch and learn from her has and feel like part of the processā¦and start to speak the āMOTHERGROUNDā visual language she developed for this project. Last year she asked if Folks could create a video iteration for this project, and it was EPIC!!! A massive shooting highlight for me.
Seeing Madeleine and Auguste grow by infrequently popping in and out of their lives with a camera for the past 5-ish years has been a unique pleasure. Dominiqueās perspective on motherhood definitely shaped my own perspectives, and now that this show is opening today, I myself am just over 6 months pregnant. The timing couldnāt be more special.
Iām thrilled to see the big show tonight!!!š«¢
Itās open to the public free tonight, Friday October 11th, at the WAG from 6-9ish. Cash bar šµš
Been wanting to post more from this music video!! šµš¤
Tried some new film emulation techniques with the open gate and post-halation, itās not a technically a true-to-film gate ratio but whoās really checking?? ššļø (honestly if anyone would notice it would be film film ppl cause they know their sh*t)
