My time at Slush’D Lagos was amazing, meeting industry friends and other stakeholders.
A perfect place to connect with new people and get insights into the state of industry.
One speaker who stood out for me was @sani_francis the Program Director, @3mttnigeria . He mentioned that a deep problem with the current young Nigerians is that most of us don't have a sense of wonder and I agree with that...
You see young Nigerians wanting to be something but not willing to take the actions to get them the results, they rarely ask themselves the question 'What can come out of this?'
You see young people starting courses and not finishing it, seeing opportunities and walking past it, seeing tech tools evolving and not wanting to give it a try.
I've always said that the biggest problem with this market and education is not tech inclusion in education, it is the very basic 'WANTS' to be educated.
The average Nigerian isn't interested in learning about their civil rights, that there is the biggest problem... NO SENSE OF WONDER in them.
Over the next few years, I'll do my best to ensure I plant a seed in every young Nigerian I come across, a seed of wonder, to help them question themselves... "What more could come out of this if I try it?" This question alone, has gotten me this far and I believe it'll get others.
