Some rooms are filled with lights, others with legacy. At Lagos Canvas, we didn’t just show up, we documented the culture as it was being written in real time. Art moved. Music spoke. Fashion walked in truth. And through the lens of KTV, we caught the beautiful souls behind the spotlight. To every creative carving their name into the Lagos skyline, we see you. To the ones building the future while looking fly, we’re with you and to Aunty Mo! & Mayor Sadiq Khan, the trailblazers, the torch-passers to the next generation, the stage is lit because you lit it. You didn’t just open doors, you built corridors. You turned silence into blueprints and this era will echo with your fingerprints. Catch the full experience on YouTube via the link in our bio! #LagosKalenda #LagosCanvas2025 #KTV

Before it became the ceremonial heart of the nation, this iconic ground began as the Lagos Race Course , a colonial-era leisure space where horse racing, parades, and elite gatherings once defined social life in the city. In 1960, the story changed forever. As Nigeria stepped into independence, the racecourse was transformed and renamed Tafawa Balewa Square, honouring Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The space shifted from colonial entertainment to national identity ,becoming the very ground where independence celebrations were held and where countless historic rallies, parades and cultural moments have unfolded. These photos capture the before: Crowds seated by the rails, colonial architecture in the background, and the oval track that once defined leisure in Lagos. Today, the same land tells a different story ,one of nationhood, unity and public memory in Nigeria. From horse races to independence parades ,history literally changed its name here. 📍 Did you know the answer before now? #HistoricalLagos #TafawaBalewaSquare #LagosHistory #lagosheritage

From one bridge to three lifelines In 1929, Lagos Island leaned on just one gateway , Carter Bridge , quietly carrying the dreams of a growing city between the Island and Mainland. Fast-forward to today, and the skyline tells a louder story of growth, movement and unstoppable Lagos energy. Now standing beside it are Eko Bridge and Third Mainland Bridge, three powerful arteries connecting millions of daily journeys. Patrol duty in 1948 Lagos looked like this No sirens. No patrol vans. Just bicycles, boots on the ground, and a community that knew their officers by face. Old Nigeria moved slower but was it better? Would you trade today’s fast life for this simpler Lagos? #LagosHistory #EkoHeritage #OldLagos #NigeriaHistory #VintageAfrica
