When we look back at our two decades of service, what comes to mind is none other than the city that has hosted us all these years, this vibrant place of the American West Coast, desert to ocean, valley to mountain, the world in micrography, with all its peoples and endless dreams… El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula… or as we know it… Los Angeles.

We are excited to bring the Sundance World Cinema Audience Award-winner HOLD ONTO ME, directed by Myrsini Aristidou, to Los Angeles! In Myrsini’s words: “HOLD ONTO ME is the final part of a journey that began with my short films SEMELE and ARIA — each exploring the evolving bond between a father and daughter during preteen and teenage years. This film reaches further inward, tracing the quiet, often unspoken longing that forms in the absence of a father, and the unsettling vulnerability of two people who know of each other, but do not truly know one another.”
Myrsini Aristidou attended LAGFF with her short films SEMELE (2016) and ARIA (2018); we are now eager to welcome her to Los Angeles and the Egyptian Theatre once again! The screening will take place on May 31, 6 pm, after the Red Carpet event in the Courtyard.

We are thrilled to open with Giorgos Georgopoulos’ West Coast premiere of his new film, which received five awards at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, including the Greek Film Critics Union award. Upbeat and youthful, PATTY IS SUCH A GIRLY NAME follows Daphne, a teenage judo athlete from a remote Greek island, who is ready to spread her wings with the help of Sensei Yuri, aiming to take part in the next Olympic Games. Yuri is looking for a new beginning as a judo coach, while Daphne transitions from the carelessness of adolescence into the hard world of adults.
Join us on May 27th, 2026, on Opening Night of the 20th edition of the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival; where we are honored to present a remembrance of one of our greatest and most respected artists in the seventh art, Dean Tavoularis.
The remembrance will precede the Opening Night film screening, and it is included in the Opening Night ticket price (individual tickets coming soon).
