Bay Area getaway with one of my very favorite humans (who smartly parted ways w Insta a while ago). Saw the Manga exhibit at the DeYoung, ate allll the food, spent two nights having an airstream adventure in Half Moon Bay, hung in Santa Cruz for a bit, and capped it off with a magical evening w David Byrne. I miss SF terribly but I love knowing I can always return.

I never knew I needed Tonga. Until a glorious week at @tradewindslife Mandalay Resort on our own private island showed me what I’d been missing.
The Kingdom of Tonga is comprised of around 170 islands, only about 40 of which are inhabited. The remoteness can feel daunting, yet at the same time freeing. The rest of the world fades away, reality is the feel of your body in the sea, the scent of frangipani, the huge sky and the salty air. Each moment counts. There is no rushing. Tonga waits for you.
Mandala is a magical place, totally off the grid and powered by the sun. Our “fales” were outfitted with cozy beds and lots of windows to allow the island breezes in. Captain Kyle took us on adventures daily, showing off the best snorkeling spots and teaching us to sail the Hobie cat. First Mate Tilly kept us well fed and made us laugh and ensured we had everything we needed without having to ask. The local children in Ofu welcomed us with traditional song and dance. We ate coconuts fresh off the tree.
