Lady Freethinker joined a global coalition of more than 80 organizations to protest outside the FIFA Congress in Vancouver, demanding an end to the mass killing of dogs in Morocco ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
Millions of dogs are at risk — with reports of shooting, poisoning, and brutal capture methods used to “cleanse” the streets. Verified footage shows terrified dogs being pinned, dragged, and thrown into trucks as they cry out in pain.
This cruelty is unacceptable. FIFA cannot ignore the suffering tied to its own event.
We are calling for humane, science-based solutions like spay/neuter programs — not mass slaughter.

After a lifetime of experiments, many animals are simply killed — never knowing comfort, freedom, or love.
Dogs, cats, and countless other animals in U.S. labs endure isolation, painful procedures, and exposure to toxic substances. When the testing ends, their lives often do too.
A bipartisan bill could change that. The AFTER Act would require federal agencies to retire healthy lab animals to shelters, sanctuaries, or adoptive homes — giving them a second chance at life.
Millions of animals are used in research every year, and they deserve more than a life of suffering.
Please sign our petition (in first comment and in our bio) urging Congress to support the AFTER Act and give these animals the futures they deserve.

Three puppies, covered in urine and feces, and with signs of serious neglect, were found crammed inside a sealed plastic container.
They reportedly had little to no human contact, and the container showed signs they had been trapped there for an extended period without proper ventilation or care.
When authorities searched the property, they found more dogs — and tragically, two puppies who had already died.
Four individuals have been arrested, but these innocent animals deserve full justice.
Please sign our petition (in first comment and our bio) urging prosecutors to pursue the strongest possible charges, and to ban those responsible from ever having animals again.
Every year in Indonesia, hundreds of thousands of dogs and millions of cats are bred for sale.
But behind the cute photos and online adverts is a hidden world of suffering.
Since early January, JAAN and Lady Freethinker have been investigating puppy mills across Java. What we found was heartbreaking: dogs and cats trapped in tiny, filthy cages, left starving, sick and untreated, and fed rotten leftovers – if they are fed at all.
No proper breeding standards. No welfare protections. No accountability.
The time has come. This cruelty must end.
Today, we are launching a campaign to expose Indonesia’s puppy mill cruelty and push for urgent change: stronger breeder regulations, real enforcement, public education and collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to protect dogs and cats.
You can help. Every share, every signature, and every decision not to buy helps bring their suffering out of the shadows, break the cycle of cruelty, and push for the protection they deserve.
Be their voice. Choose kindness over profit.
Don’t buy animals online.
Don’t buy from puppy mills.
Don’t buy out of pity.
ADOPT, DON’T SHOP.

Stray dogs and cats in Kazakhstan could soon face mass killing under a proposed “population control” law.
Instead of expanding humane solutions like sterilization and sheltering, this bill would allow captured animals just days to be saved before being killed.
Experts warn that killing is not only cruel — it doesn’t solve the problem. Humane approaches like spay/neuter programs and responsible guardianship are proven to work.
We’ve already seen the devastating consequences of mass culling in other countries. Kazakhstan must not follow that path.
Please sign our petition (in first comment and our bio) urging lawmakers to reject this cruel proposal and protect vulnerable animals.
A milestone has been reached in our efforts to stop online animal cruelty and torture content: following the submission of a shareholder resolution by Lady Freethinker, Meta has removed hundreds of posts shared with them by LFT that Meta determined to be in violation of its existing policies. The company has also uncovered and removed numerous related accounts to stop the spread of animal cruelty posted for “entertainment” and profit on Facebook and Instagram.
Meta and LFT have started a collaborative engagement to continue efforts to remove animal cruelty content that violates Meta’s policies as well as explore proactive ways to identify and prevent such content from being posted in the first place, including utilizing AI strategies.
The ongoing collaboration between LFT and Meta is expected to help build new solutions and approaches, in keeping with Meta’s efforts to continually look for ways to improve the effectiveness of its content moderation. This could include situations where abuse is misrepresented as education or rescue.
LFT is grateful to Meta for their recent actions, and remains committed to working toward a future where animals are no longer harmed for online content.
Animals exploited for fur endure lives of misery — trapped in tiny cages, denied everything natural to them, and killed in the most brutal ways, sometimes even skinned alive. This is still happening, and it’s happening right now.
Lady Freethinker investigations have repeatedly exposed the horrific reality of fur farms, and while many fashion brands have chosen to go fur-free in recent years, Berluti continues to sell fur products. Even after removing fur from its website, fox fur and mink-lined items were recently found for sale inside a Berluti store in New York City.
There is no justification for this cruelty. Fashion should never come at the cost of an animal’s life.
Please add your name to our petition (in the first comment and in our bio) urging Berluti to adopt a fur-free policy and end all fur sales immediately.
Ever noticed your dog “singing” along to music?
New research suggests some dogs may actually be matching their pitch to songs — not just howling randomly.
In the study, certain breeds adjusted their howls when the music changed, showing they were intentionally shifting their voices to stay in tune.
Scientists believe this ability may be linked to wolves’ group howls — and could even offer clues about how musical behavior evolved long before human language.
A mama dog and her six tiny puppies were found hiding in the basement of an abandoned home — scared, vulnerable, and alone.
Officers carefully made their way through the crumbling foundation to reach them, bringing the mama out first and then safely carrying her pups to safety.
Now, this little family has been bathed, treated, and is finally safe — waiting for foster care and loving homes.
A horse called Troy was stranded in freezing floodwaters more than 600 feet from shore as currents surged around him.
After overnight storms caused waters to rise to dangerous levels, Troy was left battling deep, fast-moving floodwater and severe hypothermia.
But help came. A coordinated team of firefighters, deputies, rescue specialists, and a veterinarian worked together to reach him by boat and pull him to safety.
Thanks to their determination, Troy survived. He’s now recovering, back home, and reunited with his best friends.
A man who brutally tortured and killed multiple cats in Singapore has received an unprecedented 31-month prison sentence.
The abuse was horrific. One cat was stomped, kicked, and thrown from a 34th-floor building. Another was dragged and slammed into a wall, suffering injuries so severe they had to be euthanized. Authorities also found that the man had stabbed additional cats.
In total, six cats are known to have suffered at the abuser’s hands.
Lady Freethinker is deeply grateful to the court for taking action — and to the more than 42,000 supporters who stood up for these animals by signing our petition.
After years of investigations and advocacy, 33 people worldwide have now been prosecuted for their roles in creating and sharing horrific torture videos of baby monkeys.
This growing crackdown is the result of tireless work by animal protection groups, law enforcement, and supporters who refused to look away.
Lady Freethinker, along with Action for Primates, first exposed these networks back in 2021.
As #InternationalMacaqueWeek brings renewed attention to the plight of these intelligent, sensitive animals, it’s important to recognise both the progress being made and the urgent need for continued action to end the brutal cruelty they still face.
There is still so much more to be done, but these cases send a clear message: monkey abuse will not go unpunished.
Together, we must keep pushing for justice and protect vulnerable animals from this unimaginable torture.
