Dave and Evan of @ladenvalley keeping it simple with the new Guild M-40 and M-50 Standard. 🎶 With their compact, comfortable size, these vintage-inspired acoustics are the kind of guitars you can pick up anywhere—perfect for songwriting sessions, playing outdoors, or wherever inspiration strikes. In this acoustic rendition of “Dusty,” the duo shows just how naturally these guitars fit into their creative process. As Dave puts it: “The M-40 has a punchy sound and the size of it is very inviting. I’m much more likely to pick it up throughout the day… because of that I’m writing more, playing more, and letting the instrument move me toward creating.”

@newport.mansions is expanding its digital footprint with the launch of a new music video series, “Sessions,” blending live acoustic performances with some of the most historically significant architecture in the United States. The series features invited musicians recording stripped-down sets inside or on the grounds of Newport Mansions’ 11 historic properties, seven of which are National Historic Landmarks. Each performance is filmed without an audience, captured in a single take using one condenser microphone to showcase the natural acoustics of each location. The full performances will be released on the Newport Mansions YouTube channel. “Sessions” debuts Jan. 8, 2026, with a performance by Maine-based indie-folk duo The @ballroomthieves , recorded inside Marble House, the Gilded Age mansion once home to socialite and women’s suffrage activist Alva Vanderbilt. Additional releases are scheduled throughout early 2026: * @thewoodbros , an American roots trio, on Feb. 12, recorded at The Breakers Stables & Carriage House. * @ladenvalley , a local roots folk act, on March 12, recorded at The Elms, the former summer home of George and Bertha Russell, featured in HBO’s The Gilded Age. Newport Mansions plans to release new installments monthly throughout 2026 and is in discussions with several nationally recognized artists for future sessions. “These recordings are unique opportunities to create something beautiful and lasting, moments where the setting becomes part of the performance,” said Ashley Bard, content marketing and studio manager for Newport Mansions. Marketing Director Kevin O’Leary said the initiative is aimed at reaching audiences who may not typically engage with historic sites. “Music has an ability to reframe how people experience a space,” he said. The series is produced in partnership with Newport-based creative content agency Tandem. #newportmansions #newportbuzz #newportri

@LadenValley brings the new M-40 Standard (Pacific Sunset Burst) and M-50 Standard (Natural) to life — showcasing the rich, responsive tone and inviting feel that make these guitars a natural fit for songwriters and creative duos. “The M-40 and M-50 both work best as songwriting guitars and getting together to play without any fuss. Their tonality also lends itself to the kind of duo guitar interplay that we gravitate toward — light strumming mixed with some picking and bluegrass runs. It feels as good going up the neck as it does working in the open position.” Head to the link in the bio to dive deeper into Laden Valley’s music! https://too.fm/dusty

I never thought I’d release this song. I wrote it before I was taking songwriting all that seriously, but it was fun to strum and sing. I was reading Lonesome Dove for the first time and was wayyy too deep on romanticizing the frontier and cattle driving and sleeping on the ground. This was before I came across Blood Meridian and had my perception of the American West torn to bits. There was a bad movie out at the time called a million ways to die in the west and I thought well there’s ways to die without even dying. That’s the song. Anyway, I showed it to Dave and he liked it, so we cut it live with the gang. I stand by the fact that Robert Ellis can save any song - with a little help from Will on pedal and Aden on upright. “Dusty (A Million Ways to Kill a Man)” is out there today.

“Hollywood Sign” is out today and here’s what you should know … There was a pizza place in the town over where I grew up called “Hollywood Pizza”. A small and flickering neon sign and a poorly drawn mural of the Hollywood hills on the side. Even at 8 years old I understood that Hollywood was some distant and exotic place, it was where you went to make it big or whatever. Where dreams are made. Didn’t Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone own a massive globe shaped restaurant called Planet Hollywood? When I started writing this kind of Willie Nelson style outlaw travelogue about failure and self destruction and chasing something that was never really there, I thought of places like that. Some strange neon 90s mirage - on the run, too drunk to even dream anymore, and stumbling up to that pizza place in rural Rhode Island and thinking “I’ve hit the big time”. 🍕 🍕🍕
