After the L.A. wildfires, we partnered with @adamhunter and @lacando_org to help furnish transitional housing for families starting over—donating furniture to restore a sense of home. “This is about providing people with things that make them feel human.” —Adam Hunter It’s been an honor to be part of this work. Thank you @luxemagazine@kellybadal@jilleditsluxe for sharing this story and helping shine a light on what’s possible when our industry comes together.
It started with a simple idea. Adam said, “Kayleigh, we need to donate —let’s donate furniture.”
And from that one sentence, something much bigger began to unfold.
What’s happened over the past 2½ months has been nothing short of transformative.
We took a spark and built a fully functioning operation—a place where families who lost everything could walk in, feel safe, feel seen, and choose beautiful pieces to rebuild their lives. With care, dignity, and no red tape.
There was no blueprint. Just a vision and a hell of a lot of determination. I threw everything I had into this—early mornings, late nights, endless lists, spreadsheets, pickups, planning, emotion. And then, something amazing happened: people started showing up. Volunteering. Donating. Saying “what do you need?”
To Adam—thank you for planting the seed, for believing in the heart of this idea, and for trusting me to run with it.
To every single person who lifted a box, stayed late, sent a truck, folded towels, sorted sheets, answered emails, and showed up for strangers—you are the soul of this thing.
L.A. Can-Do isn’t just about stuff. It’s about community. It’s about hope. It’s about what happens when we decide not to look away.
This is just the beginning.
