As modern society evolved, “non-places” became central to the functioning of large urban areas.
First theorized in 1992 by French anthropologist Marc Augé, the concept examines the growing prominence of transitional spaces dedicated to freight, transit, and mobility, spaces distinct from those associated with work, leisure, or domestic life.
Airports, public transportation infrastructures, and shopping malls function as the arteries of contemporary cities, enabling the circulation of people, goods, and data across space. In doing so, they reshape our perception of distance, scale, and time.

Few figures in fashion match the influence of Katsuya Kamo, the hairdresser behind some of the most defining runway shows of the 2000s.

Titled "Melting Pot", it was the first time Jun Takahashi and Katsuya Kamo collaborated on a runway.
Biomega was founded in 1998 in Copenhagen with a clear vision: to rethink city bikes through a design-forward approach and a distinct futurist minimalism.
In 1999, the brand began collaborating with Marc Newson on the MNO1 bike, a bold statement defined by a fully reimagined aluminum frame.
The brand also worked features brand and designers previously featured on Lab.zip such as Puma, Ross Lovegrove, Karim Rashid, among others.

D-Air. After developing their signature dorsal protection, Dainese went on to tackle the other major risk during motorcycle crashes. D-Air exploration began with the intention to protect the neck area with portable airbags.

Kojima’s interest in portable music carries directly into this design, from the branded Walkman models in Peace Walker to the iPod in Metal Gear Solid 4 and the music system in Death Stranding 2, Kojima’s latest game. Across these works, portable audio devices highlight the inherent narrative properties carried by their real-life counterparts, allowing users to chose their “life soundtrack”.
Zaha Hadid built her practice on the idea that form is never static, but shaped by forces, flows, and movement.
After exploring her 2008 footwear collaboration with Melissa, we now shift to 2009, where her work with Lacoste extends this research, grounding her architectural language into a body-driven object shaped by motion and the French crocodile designs.
