During Work Zone Awareness Week, we want to shed light on the critical issue of work zone safety. Watch this eye-opening video featuring DOTD employee Tim Holloway, who courageously shares his personal experience after being involved in a work zone accident that left him and a contractor employee injured. This powerful video serves as a poignant reminder of the crucial importance of work zone safety. Every day, these dedicated workers put their lives on the line to improve our roads, and it’s essential that we prioritize their safety. Let’s come together to raise awareness about work zone safety. Together, we can make a difference by understanding the significance of slowing down, paying attention and respecting work zones. By doing so, we create a safer environment for our workers and ensure they make it back home to their loved ones. Join us in sharing this video and spreading the message of work zone safety.

Yesterday, we hosted the first-ever Transportation Day focused on advancing and strengthening transportation for Louisiana with greater transparency and accountability, driving economic development and growth across the state. Transforming Transportation Day was about collaboration amongst agencies, partners, private industry, and of course, our legislature. "Louisiana is experiencing a renaissance of economic growth. None of that can happen without the transformation of DOTD. We are committed to building infrastructure, not paperwork, through reliable project delivery and strategic investments." -Secretary Glenn Ledet, Jr. 📸L to R: Archie Chaisson III, Executive Director, Office of Louisiana Highway Construction Lisa Freeman, Executive Director, Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Glenn Ledet, Jr., DOTD Secretary Andrew Kilshaw, Commissioner, Office of Multimodal Commerce Erich Ponti, Executive Director, Louisiana Asphalt Pavement Association

The Coordinated Use of Resources for Recreation, Economy, Navigation, and Transportation (CURRENT) Authority convened its first official board meeting on May 7, at the Louisiana State Capitol, marking a significant milestone in Louisiana’s efforts to strategically coordinate and enhance water resource initiatives across the state. The inaugural meeting brought together state leaders, board members, and federal partners to begin discussions focused on long-term planning, infrastructure investment, flood resilience, navigation, economic development, and recreational opportunities tied to Louisiana’s water systems. DOTD also provided an overview of the authority’s developing Master Plan and Annual Plan. During the discussion, DOTD highlighted how the extensive data collection and analytical work completed through the Louisiana Watershed Initiative can help accelerate flood mitigation and resilience efforts statewide. With its inaugural meeting complete, the CURRENT Authority is positioned to begin building momentum as it develops a comprehensive, opportunity-driven vision for the future of Louisiana’s water resources through continued collaboration with federal, state, and local partners.
