Practice with the lads today 😊 We’ve been hard at work over the last 6 months songwriting, getting ready for album recording, trying different instrument combinations, bringing in our new viola player, hammering harmonies and we are so excited for our first live performance of summer at lovely @fishguardfolkfestival on the 23rd in the garden at @royaloakfishguard which has the most amazing view, and the 24th in @ffwrn.fishguard which is a lovely venue with a lush vibe.

Feeling blessed to be in safe hands working with such talented people in beautiful surroundings on Gower. We’re two days in and the foundations are built for me to start laying down vocals tracks today. My voice was sounding stronger yesterday after a wobble the week before which was a relief so feeling slightly less mental to be recording an album now 😅

Only a few days to go! Also on the bill is Rob Strafford who’s a wonderful guitar and mandolin player. Rob, myself and Sam all go to the same tune school to learn Welsh traditional tunes from Ceri Rhys Matthew’s which is a fantastic resource for any Swansea based folkies. The final one before Christmas is at 11am on Saturday in Elysium.

Here it is! A sneak peak of what we did yesterday afternoon. I’m starting to see that there is a musicians calendar. We’re plugging away at what feels like the adulting side of being a band at the moment. Recording, videos, writing bios and applications for all the things. But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel (or rather a lack of!) and whisperings have begun about about writing, one of the more playful and cathartic sides, which is likely to begin again for us as the clocks go back, much as it did last year when we first got together. It then slows when the clocks go forward and festivals and outdoor events begin.
In this clip there are bits of originals, some traditional Welsh and Irish tunes and a small clip of a trad Irish song.
