Winnipeg! Year 1 certainly didn’t disappoint. 🥲 We couldn’t have asked for a better group to “celebrate” our first Motherless Day with. It takes bravery to show up not knowing what you’re going to get, and show up you did. With open minds and open hearts. This was our first time together, but we’ll be meeting again soon. 💛 #TheParentlessClub #MotherlessDay #MothersDay

Introducing: Motherless Day, Winnipeg - the pity party you actually want to go to. Writing this was hard. Not because it makes me miss my mom—that’s an everyday thing for me—but because this is a milestone I can’t call and tell her about. My friends keep telling me how proud she’d be of where I am today, five years, five months, and fifteen days since I saw her last. For the first time, that sentiment actually feels true. I’m sharing a collection of photos here that piece together my story. To be honest, being “photo vulnerable” is terrifying. But these frames are the map that led me to where I am today. The version of me in these photos would never believe I’d become the person writing this now. You may or may not know the specifics of my story, but all you really need to know is this: You can do, and get through, hard things. And once you’ve found your footing, you can reach back and help someone else get through theirs, too. No matter how your loss occurred, we have built this for you. We’ve tried to create a safe space for folks like us to gather on what is, let’s be real, a pretty heavy day. It’s a place where you don’t have to explain the “look” on your face, because we’re all wearing it. For those that want to help: ✨Volunteer Your Time: We need hands on deck for set-up and tear-down on the day of the event. ✨Donate to The Parentless Club: As a non-profit, literally every dollar helps us keep these spaces accessible and help this community grow. ✨Spread the Word: Share this with the ones who have lost their moms

I hear it’s bob girl summer, or is it babka summer? Last pic confirms it can be both!

Mother’s day always comes around with mixed feelings. Joy for my friends who are mothers. Happiness for those that get to see their moms on that day. And of course, sadness brought on by the stark reminder that I don’t have my mom to spend the day with. This year I did something different, I found this Motherless Day event...in Toronto…and I went! It was amazing to connect with folks in a similar situation as me, on a day that is just as hard for them. It also helped that we were surrounded by the beautiful florals, natural light and amazing food. Thanks to @motherless.day for creating a community for people like me ✨ a little late but always on my mind ✨
