Being an ally is more than acceptance. It means listening. It means learning. It means challenging harmful narratives. It means helping create safer and more inclusive spaces. Spectrum exists to center and uplift LGBTQ+ students at Kentucky State University. Allies are welcome here when they are committed to learning, supporting, and standing in solidarity with our community. This is a space for education, advocacy, and real conversations. Even the uncomfortable ones. This is a space built on respect, protection, and growth. To be a safe space means protecting our community while building understanding across campus. Join Spectrum. Interest form in bio.

Yesterday, Spectrum’s Health Resource Fair brought free testing and essential resources directly to KSU students. With support from AVOL Kentucky, the Franklin County Health Department, Black Girls in White Coats, and Miss Junior, students accessed free testing, Narcan training, self-protection kits, and more. No stigma. No cost. Just care. 💜

Love was definitely in the air all week long! Our Spectrum Valentine’s Week Photobooth Fundraiser was such a success! From cute couple pics to bestie snapshots and solo mogging moments, the KSU community showed up and showed OUT. Every smile, every pose, and every donation helped us continue creating inclusive, affirming spaces on campus. Spectrum would like to thank the KSU community for all the love and support you have provided throughout the week! 💕 We are so grateful for each and every one of you. More events, more memories, and more love coming soon! #minihoco

Black Queer History: Movies & Books That Shaped Us 🖤 These stories did not just entertain us. They held us. They named feelings we were taught to bury, reflected lives rarely centered, and preserved histories that were never meant to be forgotten. From coming of age and chosen family, to ballroom, censorship, love, loss, and survival, these films and books helped shape how Black queer people see ourselves and each other. This is legacy. This is visibility. This is us.

Black History Month, Queer Edition. These are just a few of the Black queer people who have shaped history, culture, and liberation. Black queer history has always existed at the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality even when it was ignored or erased. Check out our recent posts highlighting other revolutionary figures in the queer community. We’ll be sharing pieces of Black queer history every week throughout Black History Month. Honor the past. Celebrate the present. Protect the future.
