/LET MY CANDLES BURN /
Let my candles burn ,Maybe i might attain the spark i've needed my whole life , if not i'll pick up the melted wax and reshape my candles ,i wouldnt just pick up my melted candles once or twice but over and over again till i feel that very spark, while playing with fire i wouldnt need help if you were to hear me scream or if my face was burning then let it be because there will be no gain without pain

Gone are the hours I spent scouring over every imperfection. This is the time in which I finally step into my light and not worry if it’s too bright for others to handle. I am no longer the trembling girl I once was. My bones will no longer clatter like thin branches in the wind, no longer snap like a rubber band pulled just a little too tight. I use this battered skin to form the wings that will carry me to my destiny. And though the scars will always remain, they will share my story. They will stay as a reminder that everything beautiful and strong was once helpless and weak. I will pull myself from the depths in which my past has placed me and finally give myself the love that I had so long reserved for others. I’ll wear my hair like the crown it is, my clothes like armor that show the world just how powerful I am, and my skin - with all its scars - as if they are medallions for every battle I’ve ever won. No longer will I apologize for the person I’ve become.

VOICES OF THE UNHEARD
While documenting this project i felt the pain of the unheard, it didnt just hit my heart but it stroke my soul knowing that if this people had a chance to grow up in a country which the basic social amenities where provided for both the rich and poor then it would have been a different narrative for them and there families. Nigeria as a whole has failed ,Not just the Government but the masses have also failed to speek and be heard.
I met these set of hardworking individuals (Abraham and Ladi) , Abraham have been crushing rocks since he was 16 years old and now he has a family to cater for while ladi has been doing it for 10 years which she uses the money to pay rent and help pay school fees for her grandchildren , i had to convince ladi to stand infront of the camera because she was scared that i will broadcast the video on NTA 🤣🤣,I had to convince her that i was only but a student who was working on his project.
This documentary was inspired by @thejuwonlo , i reached out to @thejuwonlo days ago and we had a long and an intellectual conversation on how one day we could document the voices of the unheard together ,at the end of our conversation he then asked if i could film a little documentry with my immediate environment and i decided to rise to the challange.

Under the Almajiri system, parents send their children, mostly boys aged 4-12, to distant locations to acquire Qur’anic education. Many rural and poor families who can’t afford formal schooling have made this choice. It is difficult to know the number of Almajiri children in Nigeria, but some estimates put it at about 10 million, or about 81 per cent of the more than 10 million out-of-school children in the country.
While parents may believe they are fulfilling their obligation to provide a religious and moral education to their children and that the learning is provided free of charge, Almajiri children are often forced by their teachers (Mallams) to beg in the streets to fund their education.
