First wave trying the GoPro at a remote Indo wave, thought trying toes on the nose would be cool but it decided to give me a tour of the reef instead

Going over the tried and true “Whip” model. My go to shortboard for everyday condition in the waist to couple feet overhead range. It’s just a very drivey and forgiving board that’s super easy to ride and always ends up being a favorite. This and the whip round tail step up are always in my quiver. STORY TIME: My favorite wave of all time I remember when I was young, my brother showing me clips of nokandui and saying “we have to surf this one day”. I always said it looked too gnarly and shallow and too far away to ever actually surf it. He was persistent that it was the best goofy foot wave in the world and we had to go. He was the biggest reason I came to Indo in the first place. To surf this insane wave. Fast forward October 2024, an amazing forecast with the biggest swell of the year and the raddest crew of AUS groms that were keen to charge. That day I surfed bankvaults in the morning(huge, scary but perfect, only got a couple small ones) then went to nokandui after. This is my first and only wave here(so far) and I didn’t make it but this wave will live in my head forever. I’ll remember the vision, how I shoulda made it, and how I got drilled into the reef; forever. But more than anything I will remember coming up from that wave somehow ok and laughing up at Cody, as I fulfilled one of our dreams whilst he kept me safe.
