XXXIII. eatin’ big time. | 15 november 2025
thankful for the entire kitchen staff who made this ten course dinner party possible, my bartending friends who kept our glasses full, and everyone who shared the night with us to bring old dinner traditions into a new space.
@connorsurdi on the shutter, of course
after weeks of tears, blood, tears, sweat, and tears we finished renovating my childhood home and officially put it on the market. our team installed countertops that my mom would have loved, filled holes in walls that i thought would be there forever, and sent screws in floorboards to stop squeaks that got me caught sneaking in late at night.
if anyone wants to live in a special place that fostered food, music, and growth (or, just in somerset generally because of the school district or whatever), check out the link in the bio where you can find more “professional” photos of the house and less mirror selfies. *swipe for our last unexpected dinner guest*
Putting this into words is hard because we never needed many words to understand each other.
How blessed am I to have such a strong maternal figure who inspired me to enjoy life. You were the life of every party and generous at every turn. You were constantly thinking of others even during your difficult last days. Though at times you worried otherwise, I know now, more than ever, that you were an amazing mom- not only to me, but to everyone you met.
Thank you for teaching me how to cook, how to eat, and how to feed the people that we love. For the countless meals and snacks. Thank you for arming me with well made plans and better made clothes. For sharing your interests and speaking your mind. Thank you for caring so deeply and instilling in me to do the same. Few can steer me right but thanks for having tried.
I know that wherever you are now, you have found a spot at the bar and are waiting for me to get there.
