March is for birthdays! (At least in this little fam). And winter is for quiet sunny mornings, icecapades, natural treasures, snow angels 🪽, snow sunsets ✨, and snow everything else (apparently) ❄️. Who knew… the frozen earth and everlasting blanket of white were just the reset this soft being needed. Mayor Freyor is all grown up at 5, and 48 is looking bright. Onwards.

A portrait of fall in the Hudson Valley
LIGHTER
Pressed into the earth by a careless passerby.
It’s rather nice down here.
In the darkness.
Held by the soft sponge of soil and decay.
Quiet. Still. Other than the mineral aroma launching microbes into the bloodstream.
I think I’ll stay a while.
But the reaction is beyond my control.
I don’t have to try to let go.
My husk breaks down as designed.
A generous preordained act of union.
Giving up. Not in a moment of weakness, in one of absolute strength and selfless abandon.
The tenderness of acceptance lets it all fall away.
Hardness dissolved, the truth is all that’s left.
My vaporous core rises, displaced by heavy air, leaving only withered skin behind, where it still has a purpose.
Lighter. Lighter. Lighter.
I’m amidst the branches now.
Dancing on limbs and conversing with birds.
Blown about and tickled by the wind.
Lighter. Lighter. Lighter.
The ground is getting smaller, transformed into tapestry. A brilliant collage that only nature could compose. Pulsing with life. Yet so many still clinging to the weight. They’ll get their turn, though. It is unavoidable.
The inner fire will burn away all resistance and spirit will recognize the freedom that was there from the start… the light that is so very clear from these heights.

I’m getting off this ride for a little while. Reach out the old fashioned way, friends, and I’ll do the same. 🤍

I lost most of my photos from the end of last year, so here are some from a few years back. Images I look to when I want to feel the slowness of things. The stillness within. And the patience I’m (sometimes?) capable of. This is the flavor I want for my next year around the sun. Deep sigh’s and disappearing horizons.
🤍 to all my people along for the ride.
