Hello from @murphywriting this weekend in NJ! Where else can you find me soon for learning and reading and more? (All linked in my bio.) 👀
👩🏻💻 The Lab at @writing.colab : back for another 2 sessions with dear @bgresko ! You can sign up for one or both and do my *power hour* and much more!
📑 A 3-week essay class at @bluestoopphl (also online!), where you’ll marvel and make! Generative prompts and short essays galore.
✏️ Discussing @kwistent ’s sharp, timely collection The Sun Won’t Come Out Tomorrow at P&P! Join us.
This week marks one year of Galley Brag!! When I first started this Substack, my hope was that it would help me connect with readers and better understand the publishing industry.
While I’ve emerged from the year with more questions than answers, I’ve also gained a renewed love of the book world and all those in it 💌
To celebrate one year, I polled some of the many (23!) people I interviewed over the past year on their fave reads of 2025 and galley brags for 2026. Also shoutout to @j_feingold for capturing that dog in me 😎
Here’s to another year in the freaking books 📚 🥹 🍾
A moment of appreciation for these nonfiction rocks (gems, rather). And to Kristen, whose book is required reading if you ever longed to be a Boxcar kid! 👋 Or love someone who did.
Watch and learn for a very good fun fact about me, a relevant shoutout to Shawn Hunter (but actually Rider Strong), and just hey, join *the* @kwistent and me next week at the @pennbookstore ! Thursday, 9/25 at 5:30pm, open to the public.
Sorry to all the true summer people, but September is coming! 🍂🍃 And with it, incredible book events.
I have the wild privilege of being in conversation with 3 literary stars—the hottest of Hot Wax launches at @bnphillypa with dear @sureasmel , a stop on the gorgeous tour for brilliant @karleighannebrogan ’s gripping memoir at @headhousebooks , and a chance to talk about Shawn Hunter (please) and much more with CNF gem @kwistent at @uofpenn B&N! I’m honored to highlight these powerhouse books and their authors.
Link in bio will take you to get tickets/ticket vouchers for the first two, and you can put the third one in your calendar now. Get them all in your calendar! Fall is coming! ✅
#HBD to my #sister @kwistent sorry I asked mom and dad to take you back 36 years ago. I’m glad they kept you and we could #celebrate this past weekend!
Today’s craft sessions were Kristen Martin’s Tell Me What You Eat And I Will Tell You What You Are and Sophia DuRose’s Procedures of Chance. Fun fact: many years ago at a high school summer program far, far away, Kristen was Sophia’s teacher!
We love local authors! Philly is home to many accomplished writers, and we were lucky to have 10 of them at the APS last night, sharing their work in 5 minutes or less.
Thank you to all our guests, @headhousebooks , and the authors! Give them all a follow and your tbr will thank you.

Join us and 10 amazing local authors tonight at the APS's historic Philosophical Hall! Each author will have 5 short minutes to share their work with the audience.
@headhousebooks will be there so you can buy copies. Signed books make great gifts!
