Dedicating this to Renee Good and to the good fight. To each neighbor who’s love influences the next into an act of love.💐
A few weeks ago my friends Fred and Kevin teamed up with me to create this little dance video. I wanted to play with the idea of action influencing action. A contagion of dance through seeds of dreaming (manifested in dandelion) 🍀💨💭❤️
This final cut was ready to go on the day of Renee Goods murder. It felt wrong and glib to post then and for the days after, especially due to the joyful, silly tone of it and the lyrics / title of the song (point and kill). the message behind that line isn’t about violence though. It’s about clarity and unapologetically going after what you want.
After sitting on that, this piece has taken on another layer. In recent days the swells of protest have moved me. I went to open an open mic where artists came out to hold each other and speak louder, to cheer on eachother and hold space for what they had to express..all of us echoing a common sentiment: FFFF🧊
Again and again I’m reminded of the power of creating. I’m reminded there’s imagination, community, play, and world building in making these physical things that take up space. I remember: jealous tech bros can’t create art or culture that moves people, so they created and push AI down our throats as an attempt to.
