s01e03 is a virtual love story set in Vancouver, New York, and the dying world of a massively multiplayer online role playing game. Kurt Walker’s work is permeated by digital life or life in the digital, with the notion that both the real world and the digital world undergo similar changes, changes which create opportunities for a unique and flexible type of cinema to find its own direction. This month’s cineclube is dedicated to Kurt, catch one of his films every Wednesday night, at 10:30pm #onTV

@thecinematheque in Vancouver, B.C. will host the first retrospective of my films on July 6th. Excited to share these films with a Vancouver audience, some for a second time and s01e03 for the first time. Thank you programmers Michael Scoular, Shaun Inouye, and the many collaborators who helped me realize these films to begin with. Excerpt from Michael Scoular’s program note: “Walker’s films […] are acts of transformative re-creation informed by the time spent there, behind cameras and within games, knowing both the physical world and the digital one are marked by similar forces of dissolution, yet that the gaps opened up by these shifts allow a small and nimble cinema to chart its own course.” Link in bio.
