Part 2 of hitchhiking 700km up to Gold Coast. I'd say hitchhiking is mostly luck with a bit of strategy. But it's also one of the best real life examples of how if you just put yourself out there, opportunities will pass and opportunities will come, but it will always work out.
I have a decent amount of hitchhiking under my belt now. It doesn't always go smooth (like in part 1), but if you can readjust and adapt, you'd be surprised at what you're capable of. Anyone that knows me, knows I would never go up to a random person and ask them something so vulnerable. But here, in this reel, it was almost literally a life or death situation. Death being stranded in a random village and life being to just ask for a ride...

Hitchhiking in Australia! The goal destination? Gold Coast. About 7.5 hours and 700 km from my starting location of Newcastle.
After an early wake up, I took the train outside of town to what I thought was a decent spot to start Hitchhiking.
Fitting a whole day of footage in to 2 minutes is harder than I thought. So I'm splitting the adventure in to two parts.

A loose ranking of every Castle we saw on our roadtrip. There is some bias based on how accessible they were and whether we entered them or not.
🏰 Eijsden - More modern with a cool moat and garden surrounding it
🏰 Born - Sick ruins with a petting zoo behind it, locked behind gate
🏰 Esch-Sur-Sûre - Top of hill in middle of town, cool ruins to fully explore with views
🏰 Brandenbourg - Very big and cool ruins with large walls, closed and locked behind gate
🏰 Beaufort - Probably the coolest looking ruins, but completely closed and inaccessible
🏰 Rueland - My personal fav, the ruins were fully accessible with tunnels and a tower you can actually go up for excellent views
🏰 Bourscheid - Large ruins that are mostly behind a 7€ entry fee, main title was recorded here
🏰 Vianden - Huge fully intact castle on top of a hill in town with the medieval spirit still alive, the only one we payed for (13€)

December 2023. Meeting back up with my Dutch friend to road trip all around Western USA. We lived and traveled for over a month out of my car. This was one of the best roadtripping experiences I've ever had. And I'm so happy it was shared with my international best friend. Until next time, bro.
