I was born and raised in Mumbai, and from the early stages of my career, I was drawn to the idea of working abroad. Experiencing different cultures and meeting new people always fascinated me. Although earlier opportunities didn’t work out, the desire stayed alive.
Eventually, I moved to the U.S. on an H1B visa, without pursuing a Master’s degree. I now work in IT healthcare, helping analyze business processes and identify automation opportunities within the healthcare domain. The visa journey itself was filled with uncertainty, especially with the disruptions caused by the pandemic.
Moving to Dallas brought excitement, but also loneliness. I missed the close-knit celebrations back home, the comfort of loved ones, and the sense of belonging that Mumbai always gave me. Falling sick with COVID here made me realize just how much I relied on that support system.
But slowly, things began to change. I made friends, started traveling, and rediscovered my love for dance. A trip back to Mumbai reminded me of my strength and gave me the motivation to rebuild a happier routine.
I learned to take small steps — joining dance classes, staying active, and pushing myself to socialize more. The lows still come and go, but I remind myself every day that life is precious, and it deserves to be lived fully.
Most importantly, I realized this —
Men also struggle, and men also need to express their feelings.
Talking about your challenges doesn’t make you weak — it makes you human.
I’m grateful for my friends and family who continue to support me through every twist and turn. Their presence reminds me of the power of connection, and that even on the hard days — I’m never truly alone.
