Irianto The exhibition is an effort to further dig into the discourse of Post-Tradition and its relation with Balinese contemporary art through works welded by grounding in notions from tradition along with issues linked to modernity in the Balinese life and its art practices. As noted by the curator, in “Reflexivity: Post-Tradition in Balinese contemporary art”, we explore how Balinese artists navigate the complex interplay between tradition and modernity in a globalised world. Embracing the plurality of meanings within the concept of post-tradition, the exhibition highlights the artists' reflexive engagement with their cultural heritage, reinterpreting traditional forms and narratives to address contemporary issues. Through their works, these artists not only preserve Bali’s rich cultural legacy but also challenge and redefine it, offering a dynamic vision of what it means to be Balinese in the 21st century. It has always been our concern to examine, encourage and support artists whose work is developed from the idea of exploring and enhancing to its furthest point the tradition that we have been embalmed with.
