Nurture. What does that word mean to you? For me, it is a reminder that radical self-care is not optional. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. Women, in particular, often give of themselves without consideration for themselves. They continually pour into others, but think it’s selfish to receive the same nourishment they so willingly extend outwardly. I was one of those women, until I learned the hard way that I am not an endless well, and if I don’t give back to myself, I cannot show up fully for others. Photographing Return to the Feminine Collective women’s wellness retreats has reminded me that learning to nourish myself in mind, body and spirit makes me a better human being. I’ve become a retreat evangelist for these experiences, because I have personally experienced the transformational gift of community, encouragement, and healing these spaces offer. I will be returning to beautiful Mount Shasta this May 21-25 to photograph my second Return to Nurture Womens Retreat with KJ Jones. Traveling the world with purpose changes everything. Yes, Australia is magical, warm, and absolutely breathtaking… but for me it is always about the people. Meeting all of these incredible women, hearing each story, growing together, and stepping into the unknown side by side was truly everything. There is something powerful about saying yes to spaces that stretch you and remind you how connected we all really are. Two movement and meditation classes a day, workshops led by inspiring women, three nourishing catered meals, and over 170 acres of land to explore made this experience feel like a reset for my soul. I can officially say retreats are medicine. And bringing the water into this space was a dream. Sharing electrolyzed reduced water in an environment focused on healing and expansion felt so aligned. This water supports deep hydration, helps the body recover from movement and travel, and creates a foundation for wellness from the inside out. Being able to educate, pour into others, and watch women experience it for the first time was incredibly special to me. If you are interested in going on retreat, reach out to me.
