UPDATE: The planning commission held the data center application until the company, DAMAC, comes back with more answers to the commissions questions about impact to the community. It could be brought back up at the commissions June 9th meeting.
Edgerton, Kansas is considering approval of a 380,000 sq ft. data center. It comes one week after its neighboring city, Gardner, denied any tax incentives for a data center after public pushback and the developer backed out.
However, the proposal in Edgerton is a little different. The company, DAMAC, already owns the land and existing warehouse where the data center would be. The land is already zoned for a data center. They will start paying property taxes to the city in 2028. Edgerton has stated they have not received any applications for tax incentives.
The company, DAMAC, refused to answer any of my questions about the project.

KC World Cup matches trending toward sellouts
The organizers behind Kansas City’s World Cup group had lots of updates to share Friday, including that all six matches in Kansas City are trending toward being sellouts according to FIFA data.

The Andrea Cothran trial is in recess for the rest of the week. We’ve heard and seen a timeline of the chase that led up to Officer Oswald’s death.
Jurors have sat through at least a couple of hours of video. The state has called 14 witnesses, a mix of law enforcement and experts, in this trial so far. Expecting more witness testimony next week.
The trial for a woman accused of murdering Fairway Officer Jonah Oswald is on day three.
We expected more witness testimony this afternoon until an abrupt recess was called following testimony from a former police officer.
This conflict could be the start to tomorrow’s proceedings. @kshb41
Some friends asked me for recommendations on places to go and things to do in Kansas City while they’re in town for a few days during the World Cup. I put together this list for them and thought I’d share it here too.
This is my little KC guide — some of my favorite spots around the city. Did I miss anything?
