The sea was endless. Made on measure piece,Jaquard weave and hand embroidery. Made in Belgium in 2025 and 2026 with natural, synthetic and recycled yarns. Dimensions: 250cm x 185cm Like pieces of old pottery washed up on the shores of Tangier, our past survives only through scattered memories that still shape our present. Each fragment carries a trace of what once was—incomplete, worn by time, yet meaningful. Memory is less an archive than a shoreline, where remnants of earlier lives quietly persist. Age of Humanity is part of a series of tapestries that we made who are inspired by divinities, beliefs, myths and metamorphoses. This specific piece is based on a story written by Ovid about the successive ages of humanity.  Ovid offered an account of the successive ages of humanity, from a primordial age where humans enjoyed an almost divine existence to the present age, where humans are beset by countless pains and ills. Every age is symbolically represented by different metals, from the most precious one to the poorest kind. As the value decreases, the hardness increases . The roots anchor themselves in water, while the foliage becomes sky. Light moves across the height of the tapestry: a gradient of natural tones evolves throughout the composition. Materials and weave structures create a dialogue between varying degrees of sheen and more ashen interventions. Very fine threads and very thick ones coexist, resonating together and bringing vibration to every area of the weaving.
