In a world that can feel heavy, moments like this are priceless. ✨ To live in a neighborhood where creativity, joy, and community come together is nothing short of magical. Every year we transform our block into something unforgettable — and this pirate adventure may have been the best yet.
🏴☠️💛
A huge shout-out to the creative masterminds who make this magic possible (you know who you are). Thank you for reminding us that joy, connection, and imagination are still the most powerful treasures we have. 🌍❤️

after the initial idea of using the telephone pole as the mast, we took inspiration from the good ole mayflower 2 (trip to the cape in a future post!) and decided to go BIG
HUGE push from the gang this year- so much love
a weekend away with friends out on tomales bay, enjoying the freshest oysters, good food, and great company. the beautiful friendship and surroundings gave way to this song about the depth of longing and allowing ourselves to be there for each other. i hope you enjoy it!
late last year, W was making these single-scene drawings on post-its; these funny scrawlings just before she turned out the lights for bed. heres a few from the fat stack that emerged
so i made a rug based on one of them.
friggin hilarious

Another fun project from late last year: modeling my father in law’s childhood home. As his work to sell the house comes to an end, i hope it brings him a little closure to what has been a huge, huge undertaking.
the base is made from 60yo wood, that FIL brought back from the previous generation’s homestead in Idaho, when he was a kid.
the roof was a little crazy to get right, simulating years of patching, buildup, extensions, but all the little details were worth it, seeing him get all emotional
One of my favorite projects in 2024…
A few months back, @wenyue818 hit us with a fun request: lets do something for Jordan’s 40th birthday. So we constructed a ground-up, d&d-esque tabletop dice roller based on his recent life events,… in 3 days!
Rules, backstory, game pieces, map, inside jokes, curated soundtrack, and custom avatars of (almost) everyone in the neighborhood to join in the action! @andyclymer pulled off some amazing (and hilarious) game cards in record time and @amberly.feathers with lastmin lamination! i havent pulled an all nighter in years… and it was so worth it.
Huge thanks to @printableheroes for the amazing offering of free cutouts and super fun artwork.
Huge thanks to @jsomara for being a good sport- we love you, bud.
had some fun with this year’s wrapping paper- felt inspired by how ribbon and foliage have common movement, holly berries to drive it all home. ive been dreaming of making a 30” long roller mechanism so that i can crank out serious yardage 😂 anyone have a heidelberg in their garage?

Anne, you were an amazing, complex woman with more facades than anyone knew what to do with. The highs were high, the lows were low, and we loved being strung along with you everywhere in between. You never gave up, you rarely gave in.
My favorite memory was just before this picture was taken. You had been in the hospital for sometime, recovering from a fall and a bad med trip. After weeks in an SNF, you clutched my arm and said “Get me out of here”. So i threw ink on a page, the docs and nurses were furious, and i pushed you out in a wheelchair that afternoon. It felt like we were busting out of prison. The ride home was filled with laughter, hands held tightly, singing to americana trucker music cranked to 11.
Even though the last few years had been tough, you always found gratitude and joy with each consecutive sunrise you could experience. I hope we can all do the same.
In 1944, an 8 year old named Bobby Caro published a handwritten newspaper called “The Hanchett Court Journal” about the life and times on our street. What seemingly started as a simple afternoon activity became a collection spanning 3 years, over 120 issues, and somewhere upto 10 weekly household subscribers. It is an amazing insight about everyday life on Hanchett through the eyes of a child.
You can now check out all of these amazing issues online here: /library/112347
Insanely, I found him through the internet, invited him to our block party, celebrating the Centennial of our street. And he flew out!!!
Afterwards, we did a little “memory walk” visiting all three of his family’s past homes on the street.
Equally insane, we were also able to reunite him with a regularly featured friend in the newspaper: Maxcine! They hadn’t seen each other in over 60 years. 😭
cousin time = fun time

song is based on an old Bludamentry riff that we never made it into a complete song. i mean, we weren’t ever a complete band, so…
