I’ve never done a commission till now! It was such a gratifying project! It’s a whole different story when you’re drawing someone’s loved one, knowing they’re going to look close and know right away if you “got it.” According to my client...this one “got it.” 😊

It’s a really vulnerable exercise to draw people you know. Most of the things I draw are from pictures I pull off the internet. But lately I’ve had a few commissions and I’ve been drawing people I know for fun. It’s hard. You have to get it right because when it’s off, it’s way off. This sketch was a bit of a struggle because when I first finished it, it was way off. Haha! A little bit of reworking though and I think it’s found the gaze I was looking for.
