Fae/Faer on the runway
My first collection on the runway
This was a dream come true and I feel so proud of what I was able to accomplish
I feel so grateful for all of my friends and family who offered support, my teachers who encouraged and guided me, and my classmates who provided invaluable feedback and laughs, who continue to inspire me
Especially grateful for my fairies, my dear friends who were the best muses and models anyone could ask for
I love you all

This collection is inspired by my non-binary identity and love of bugs, spiders, and fairies
Spiders, like the queer community can be often overlooked, underestimated, and misjudged
But each of us has magic within us
Each look is made of fabrics that I hand dyed using natural dye techniques and my own digital prints
This collection will be on display in the Resurgence Fashion Show at MASSART on May 11th, along with other fashions of talented artists
This week we said goodbye to beloved Ludo. His formal title was Ludo von Licken face. We rescued Ludo 15 years ago this January, and I still remember so much of that day. My parents had me open presents of a collar, leash, and crate as I realized it was all leading to a dog. We went to go get him and my parents asked me “do you think he’s right for you?” I knew then that he was perfect. My mom’s most used nickname for him was mister perfect.
He slept in bed with me every night until I left for college. He was always happy to snuggle and sit in your lap, he loved to be held and give kisses.
At home he had the gentle demeanor of a throw pillow but on hikes he would run up ahead out of sight until we called his name and he would come running back. The best companion for adventures or staying in.
He always was exactly what I needed him to be.
We got to be kids together, and then I got to see him as an adult buddy for my mom, and witness him aging alongside my dad, in the last years it was delighting to watch them grow old together.
He was named after Ludo from Jim Henson’s Labrynth, a large furry creature that resembled our loving pet when we first got him, he was all grown out and scraggly. The creature’s catchphrase was
“Ludo, friend”
I didn’t get to be with him on the day he left but when I last visited I said goodbye because I knew in his old age this would likely be the last time I would see him.
Before I left I said “Thank you Ludo, for being my friend”
He was my friend for 15 years, most of my memories are from a time with him around
Even though we have not lived in the same house for some years now I feel like a piece of me has gone with him
Ludo,
I love you, rest well, and thank you for being my friend
