Keith Robinson, RN, and John Taylor, RN, of the Moreno Valley Emergency Department, did something for a patient that exceeded expectations. No one asked them to do it. But their compassion — and lots of clinical wisdom — inspired them to do the right thing.
Keith and John were caring for a patient who was in such critical condition that his life depended on getting him to the hospital in Riverside immediately for surgery.
When they learned that critical care transport wasn’t available, they made a remarkable decision. They’d send him in a “standard” ambulance, and they’d go with him to provide continuous life-saving care. This was well outside their normal duties, but because they did it, their patient made it into surgery. #EverydayHeroes

Gayle Flores, RN, Hemodialysis, Downey Medical Center, stepped in during an in-flight emergency—then took action to improve emergency care on all flights.
After finding the plane’s emergency medical kit outdated and incomplete, she pushed for change. Her recommendations made it into a bill signed into law in May 2024. Now, all U.S. commercial airlines must carry more comprehensive emergency medical kits.

Griselda Alvarez, LVN, and Patricia Gutierrez, LVN, Family Medicine, Panorama City Medical Center, were enjoying what they thought was a typical day at the gym when suddenly, they heard that a young man outside had been shot. Without hesitation, they rushed to his aid, even though they knew the danger.
It turned out he had been shot twice, and things looked grim. But he was incredibly lucky. Griselda and Patty knew exactly what to do. They worked together seamlessly, side by side, to control his bleeding and keep him awake until the ambulance arrived. Thanks to their quick thinking and dedication, he survived. #EverydayHeroes #KPPanoramaCity
In celebration of #NationalVolunteerMonth and #EarthDay 🌎, we partnered with L.A. Works for a meaningful day of service at Providencia Elementary School in Burbank. Nearly 40 Kaiser Permanente employees, physicians, family members, and friends — including our Los Angeles Medical Center's senior vice president, Sal Ababneh — came together to help spruce up the school campus. Volunteers built planter reading benches and painted a mural designed to inspire a love of reading. Parents and students joined in, making it a true #community effort.
Throughout National Volunteer Month, Kaiser Permanente Southern California employees and physicians donated more than 1,300 volunteer hours to support over 100 organizations —demonstrating our continued commitment to community and service. 💙 #CommunityHealth #KPLAMC
