So Coven 1934 was an INCREDIBLE experience wow. I didn't think the day would come where the American LARP scene would have such a safe, inclusive, mature, blockbuster experience.
Here we are, @jackalopelarp has achieved what others called impossible! A publicly available LARP that deals with incredibly tough and difficult themes, open to the public, on a mass scale and it was not only a smash hit & smooth run- it was fun as hell!!!
The story of Uraako was something magical. I didn't really know what to expect from this LARP. But the story of this Comanche spiritualist was the narrative of an apprentice becoming the teacher ...and the hero.
I like to play "good guys" in larp, I do. People often make fun of me for it but I think "good guys" are inherently necessary to make a larp function. And it's also really hard to play them well and not insufferable.
This was the LARP that not just allowed me to play a good guy, but allowed me to play a hero. And not just a hero off the bat, one that was created by circumstance - one that felt earned. I've literally never experienced that in the 15 years I've been doing this.
I still have many thoughts I'm processing about this experience.
I'm not going to spoil the whole story of this art. I recommend that you come check it out when the next run inevitably gets announced 😏🕯️🩵
