This is a radiography of Aberdeen & Bucharest architectural decorations and funeral stones; exercises on volume, borders and deep mapping through the lens of conurbation. This show seeks to visualise the merging of the two cities into a single continuous urban region. It's my own private Wunderkammer where you can find ceramic sections of my Edwardian King Street, Duthie, Rubislaw, etc.; paintings; drawings; and photography – all these representing the idea of personal archives that travel through both time and space. The work tried to go towards Terra Incognita/Inventa – even though I do wonder, should I leave Geddes and other deep mapping theories apart and just cite TWILIGHT ZONE? Beyond grateful to @kooperator.space for making it happen and @p1ne_tree_hd for the great design💌

‘Wanderlust: Aberdeen Through Drift and Mapping’ Exhibition Opening 29 August 2025 18:00 at @kooperator.space Join us for the opening of the exhibition by Olesya Ilenok and Andrey Chugunov ‘Wanderlust: Aberdeen Through Drift and Mapping’! This project dives into the fabric and essence of Aberdeen through experimental, place-based artistic research. Olesya Ilenok @ilenok.art listens to the city’s skin, transforming clay imprints of urban textures into a multichannel sound installation 'Changes in Contemplation' that merges sonic art with technological ceramics. A Glasgow-based artist and emerging curator, Olesya works across media art, sound and ceramic sculpture practices, often exploring perception, memory, and the hidden layers of place. Andrey Chugunov @873hz is a conceptual artist whose practice includes sound art, light installation, generative graphics, media performances, and technological sculpture, investigating themes of mortality, temporality, autonomy, and memory decay. For this project, he maps his personal movements through Aberdeen and studies Scotland’s oil industry using a DIY sensor device, transforming data into a VR-enhanced, multichannel sound installation 'Mind Maps'. Using hybrid tools and responsive media, the duo creates a poetic, alternative cartography of the city—built from presence, attention, and fragmentary distortion. 30 August - 28 September The exhibition is open every weekend 12 - 4 PM During the week, viewing is possible upon request via messages to the gallery's Instagram. The project is generously supported by Creative Scotland @creativescots and Hope Scott Trust. kooperator.space former Academy shopping centre Schoolhill/Belmont street ab10 1lb kooperator.space gallery is based in a former academy shopping centre with the help of Outer Spaces - charity that collaborates with property owners and artists to activate empty commercial spaces @outerspaces.scotland

‘Frayed edges’ Exhibition Opening 18 April 2025 18:00 at kooperator.space Join us for the opening of Rachael Rutherford’s solo exhibition ‘Frayed edges’! @rachaelrutherford_art Rachael Rutherford is an artist living and working in Aberdeen whose practice centers on the material of textiles. Curtains, bedsheets, old clothes: they are all bits of people and places she knows, memories cut into silhouettes, faded and fraying but still there. The work presented in this exhibition uses the concept of Clootie wells to explore communal healing and sentimental attachment. Clootie wells are a traditional celtic healing practice in which a scrap of cloth is taken from a sick person, soaked in a well, and hung on a nearby tree. As the cloth dries and rots away, the person to whom it belonged heals from any ailments. The fabric in Rachael’s work is donated by family and friends, attaching a shared personal history to the material and addressing the artist’s wider environmental concerns of textile waste. ‘Frayed edges’ contemplates how this celtic tradition can be used as a metaphor for renewal by pulling together the threads of healing, textiles and nature. The edges fray but the fabric can still be mended. ‘Frayed edges’ Exhibition Opening 18 April 2025 18:00 Kooperator Space @kooperator.space former Academy shopping centre Schoolhill/Belmont street ab10 1lb ///tent.safe.intend kooperator.space gallery is based in a former academy shopping centre with the help of Outer Spaces - charity that collaborates with property owners and artists to activate empty commercial spaces @outerspaces.scotland

Documentation photos of the solo show by Tanya Shishkina. 08/2024 - 09/2024 Tanya @im_tanyashishkina_ is a visual artist living in Aberdeen, who has dedicated the past few years to developing her art practice, focusing on crafting exquisite serving dishes and decorative pieces. Her work seamlessly blends functionality with artistic elegance, adding sophistication and charm to any space or occasion. Deeply connected to nature, Tanya’s creations reflect the harmony between the roughness of concrete and the grace of natural forms, seamlessly blending modernity with pristine beauty. Her passion for creating objects began in childhood when her father first introduced her to the tools, sparking a profound love for art and materials, particularly wood and concrete. The inspiration for her solo show at kooperator.space comes from majestic mountain ranges, water, and natural landscapes. This is embodied in her work through participatory pieces - installations and sculptures combined with natural and everyday objects such as flowers, bread, fruits - allowing others to experience the touch and essence of nature through her creations. Their projects can take various forms, from storytelling about historical buildings to collaborating with local and international artists, organising festivals, or presenting their findings through exhibitions and zines. Having moved to Aberdeen a year ago, Sasha and Masha began documenting their new surroundings through photography as a way to adapt and connect with the city. Their work captures the essence of Aberdeen’s streets, its people, and the beauty found in everyday moments. Even when the streets are empty, their photographs evoke a sense of presence and life.
