We had a great time this past weekend visiting Port St. Lucie, with families enjoying the outdoors at LandscapeDE-designed Pioneer Park. The weather was pleasant, and it was a great opportunity to climb on the giant alligator, swing, ride the spinner, dig in the sand, and play in the water spray. Pioneer Park is inspired by life on the St. Lucie River, with river-themed elements surrounded by native riverine planting. April is World Landscape Architecture Month, and this year, we celebrate Landscape Architecture in Action with @nationalasla . It’s work beyond a computer in a comfortable office. It’s hard hats on—out in the elements to make our outdoor spaces a reality.
Today’s installation site: River City Sportsplex with @chesterfieldvaparksrec . The 115-acre athletic complex’s eight acres of green space are watched over by a looming 26-foot-tall, nearly 90-foot-long Great Blue Heron Robinia wood play structure. Its “wetland” bridge, inspired by plants native to the area, is intentionally designed into the surrounding topography to create an inclusive play experience for all. Together with @timmonsgroup we're working steadily along to deliver this incredible park to families later this summer.
