Stavanger Municipality is pleased to announce that artist Marit Benthe Norheim has been selected to develop a new permanent art project for Kulverten ✨
Norheim’s project ‘Mennesketunneller’ consists of three monumental sculptures that create a new horizon line in the landscape – structures that the public can move through.
Drawing on the body, myths, and human experiences, the work opens up a physical and sensory way of engaging with the site. The sculptures carry traces of life’s cycles, relationships, and community, and in many ways highlight experiences that have often been underrepresented in monumental forms. They invite both play and pause, contributing to a new identity for Kulverten and creating a place to be.
Norheim is now beginning the next phase of developing the sculptures in her studio, where the models will be transformed into full scale. We look forward to following the process and sharing it with you!
*** The art project ‘Mennesketunneller’ by Marit Benthe Norheim is realized as part of the art program ‘The Places We Meet – Art in Public Spaces’ curated by Koffi & Højgaard.

Stavanger Municipality is excited to announce that the award-winning and internationally acclaimed artist duo Sans façon have been selected to create a permanent and site-specific public art project called ‘Forever Våland, Satt i stein’, taking place in Stavanger ✨
Since 2001, the Canada-based artists Charles Blanc (b. 1974, FR) and Tristan Surtees (b. 1977, GB) have explored how people shape and experience their surroundings by creating art in public spaces.
Sans façon’s artistic practice is rooted in working with a place rather than imposing on it, and their art projects often unfold over time in close dialogue with local communities and institutions. ***

17:30–18:00
Marie Thams: 'Touched (When Coming Into Being)'

Welcome to 𝑻𝑶𝑼𝑪𝑯𝑬𝑫 (𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈) which I will be performing together with singers from the choir Diandre in Oslo this Wednesday!
The performance applies voice composition, movement and text to examine touch, attachmenrt and generational experience in a world marked by uncertainty and change. It is part of the group exhibition 𝑀𝑜𝓉𝓋𝑒𝓀(𝓈)𝓉 [𝒟𝑒𝑔𝓇𝑜𝓌𝓉𝒽 / 𝒞𝑜𝓊𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇-𝒷𝒶𝓁𝒶𝓃𝒸𝑒] – where I also will be showing the film installation 𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒂 (2024).
The exhibition 𝑀𝑜𝓉𝓋𝑒𝓀(𝓈)𝓉 includes works by Ida Immonen (FI/NO), Istvan Virag (HU/NO), Madeleine Andersson (SE/DK) and Marie Thams (DK). It opposes the fairy tale of eternal growth and critically approaches the growth paradigm of capitalism and working life at present. Through their different practices, the artists propose other ways of understanding value, work, time and community, asking us to reimagine alternate rules for the game.
The show is curated by Koffi & Højgaard (Ida Højgaard Thjømøe & Pauline Koffi Vandet) and takes place at BO - Billedkunstnerne i Oslo, May 13 - June 14.

Through presentations and discussions, the seminar explores how temporary, immaterial and relational art practices can create lasting traces – socially, sensorially and structurally – and how such practices can be developed within public frameworks. At the same time, the seminar addresses the concrete challenges of the field: how these practices are negotiated and realised within existing institutional, economic and bureaucratic conditions. These questions will be explored through contributions by artists, curators, municipalities and public agencies, sharing experiences from specific projects in Norway and internationally. We’re excited to welcome contributions by Truls Ramberg (Curator at KORO – Public Art Norway), Evgeny Goman (Curator and Producer at the curatorial collective Pikene på broen), Sans façon (Artist duo), Marie Midttun Skretting (Project Manager, Stavanger Municipality), Merete Røstad (Artist and Associate Professor in Art and Public Space at Oslo National Academy of the Arts), Mathias Danbolt (Professor of Art History at University of Copenhagen), Khanyisile Mbongwa (Curator of Art in the Public Realm at Amos Rex), Søssa Jørgensen and Geir Tore Holm (Artist duo) alongside a performance by artist Anna Ihle. Interested in experiencing temporary art in practice? Join Kunstdøgnet (24 Hours of Art) on 6-7 June - 24 hours of performance and temporary art projects across Stavanger.

Welcome to a two-day seminar on working with temporary and relational art in public space, and its lasting impact, on 4-5 June 2026 at Tou Scene in Stavanger, Norway!
Organised by Koffi & Højgaard with Stavanger Kommune, the seminar explores how participatory, temporary and site-specific art projects can form new communities - and open up new ways of experiencing and inhabiting the city. What kinds of collaborations, artistic methods and working processes are needed to allow for experimentation and meaningful participation? And how can public administration and curatorial practice support projects that leave no permanent physical trace, yet still produce lasting experiences and impact?
The seminar will conclude with an Art Bar on Thursday, and we hope you’ll stay to join Kunstdøgnet (24 Hours of Art) on 6-7 June – 24 hours of performance and temporary art across Stavanger.
We’re excited to welcome contributors including KORO – Public Art Norway, Mathias Danbolt (Professor of Art History at the University of Copenhagen), and Sans façon (artist duo, CA/UK/FR), with more to be announced soon.
