Motherhood changed me in some of the most beautiful ways… but also in some of the hardest.
Did you know, around 1 in 5 women experience postpartum depression or anxiety symptoms, and many women never openly talk about what they’re going through because of guilt, shame, fear, or feeling like they “should” be grateful. (PostpartumDepression.org)
I think social media has made postpartum feel like a “before & after” photo, a timeline, or a number on the scale.
But for so many women…
the hardest transformation isn’t physical.
It’s the mental battles.
The identity shifts.
The pressure to “bounce back.”
The guilt.
The comparison.
The feeling of losing yourself while trying to take care of everyone else.
And the truth is:
it doesn’t matter who you are,
how well you manage things,
if you’ve gone through postpartum before,
or even if you’re a coach yourself…
you can still struggle mentally through it.
I wanted to make this post because I know I’m not the only woman who has struggled with:
• grieving old versions of myself
• feeling pressure to bounce back
• breastfeeding guilt
• healing mentally
• or learning to appreciate my body again
As a coach, I wish more moms knew this:
You do not have to hate your body to want to become stronger.
And healing postpartum isn’t linear.
It’s physical, emotional, hormonal, and deeply personal.
Happy Mother’s Day to every mom navigating all of it!🤍

Happy Birthday my little crawfish! ❤️
After the storm blew over and the sun came out, we celebrated Ledge’s 1st Birthday. Boy, is my baby growing up so stinking fast. It makes my momma heart melt. Ledger James, you’ve changed mine and your Daddy’s life. Your contagious smile and personality brings light to any and every room. Mommy and daddy love you. You’re a blessing.
Thank you to everyone who came out and stuck it out with us through the storms or made their way over after. What turned into a little get together turned into an awesome party. We love y’all.
Happy 2nd Anniversary to my wonderful husband. I’m thankful the Lord has blessed me with you as my husband and best friend. I won’t ever forget the day we met and our very first date at Esperanza’s. Fast forward, to the beautiful family we’re creating. I love you, honey. 🤍
San Antonio and Galveston files! Daddy was treated good in San Antonio and so we hopped our way over to Galveston to let Ledger play on the beach for the first time. We are so blessed in so many ways. 🌊💙🤗
Happiest of birthdays to my wonderful husband.
They say choosing your partner is one of the most important decisions you can make, and it truly is. You are surrounded by this person every day. You share advice, grow together, and help shape each other’s habits and perspectives. That has been so true for us. Since day one, you have always pushed me beyond my comfort zone and encouraged me to do hard things. I am so thankful to call you my best friend, my husband, and the father of our sweet baby boy.
We love you @leighton_berry 🤍

Man… this weekend was a learning experience for the books.
I didn’t hit the time I was chasing, and when I saw it, it honestly felt like a punch to the gut. On the drive back to the hotel I replayed everything, did I not try hard enough, not train hard enough, not want it enough?
But then I was reminded of a few important things, thanks to some incredible friends who grounded me when I needed it most.
• I’m 9 months postpartum, juggling a baby and a growing business while training.
• This was my FIRST competition ever truly tested my athletic ability.
• First HYROX I’ve ever done, completely solo.
• Competed at 6 PM, a time my body is usually winding down.
• And most importantly… I can do hard things.
That perspective shift mattered. It also reminded me why I coach the way I do, because these are the same things I tell my clients all the time:
“One workout doesn’t define you.”
“Progress isn’t linear.”
“We adjust, not quit.”
And I had to take my own advice.
Here’s what I learned:
1️⃣ I ditched my pacing plan out of the gate and let ego take the wheel. Lesson learned: stick to the game plan unless circumstances force you to adapt.
2️⃣ Ropes… absolutely humbling. Keeping them behind you is way harder than it looks.
3️⃣ Read the rules 🫠 Found out I did more burpee broad jumps than needed — an LOL moment, but a solid reminder to do your homework.
4️⃣ Compromised legs matter more than you think. Lifting heavy ≠ being prepared for this style of competition.
And here’s what I’m proud of:
• Once I settled in, my station pacing stayed steady.
• Missed only ONE rep out of 100 wall balls.
• Sandbag lunges ended up being one of my strongest stations.
• Competing at night, terrifying, but fueling, rest, and mobility made it doable.
Thank you Lord for blessing me with a strong, capable body that has also created life.
I’m already ready for redemption. Next round, I want to shave 20 minutes off my time, and now I know exactly where to improve.
Let this be your reminder: just because it didn’t go how you planned doesn’t mean you failed. Get back up, knock the dust off, and go again. You can do hard things.
