Les presentamos a María Paula Pulido de la empresa KWC Know Where Coffee, que estará en el Nacional de Baristas esta semana en Pereira.
¿Quién es María Paula Pulido?
Soy Paulina Pulido, barista colombiana originaria de Medellín y representante de KWC. Con más de diez años de experiencia en café, servicio al cliente y liderazgo de barra a nivel nacional e internacional, he enfocado mi carrera en entender y valorar cada eslabón de la cadena, desde el origen hasta la taza.
¿Hace cuánto llegaste al mundo del café y en cuántas competencias has participado?
Llevo 11 años en el mundo del café y esta es mi cuarta competencia en menos de un año. Cada una ha sido una oportunidad para seguir aprendiendo y retarme en la barra.
Mi camino ha estado guiado por la curiosidad, la disciplina y un compromiso constante con la calidad. En 2025 regresé a Colombia para aportar desde el control de calidad, el fortalecimiento de relaciones y la representación femenina en las competencias. Cuento con certificaciones como Técnica en Servicios de Barismo, SCA Q Grader, Barismo Intermedio SCA y Filtrados Intermedio SCA. Creo que el café es una herramienta poderosa para conectar personas y construir una industria más transparente, sostenible y humana. Hoy compito con el propósito de aportar a esa conversación, honrando cada paso del proceso mientras sigo aprendiendo y creciendo junto a la comunidad cafetera.
¿A quién le dedicas esta participación?
Se la dedico a mi familia, a mi esposa y a mi equipo, a esas personas que han confiado en mí incluso antes de que yo misma lo hiciera. Hoy estoy acá representando a todos ellos, porque todos aportaron a mi camino para llegar a donde estoy hoy.
BUILDING FROM EXPERIENCE 🥸
Last couple of months, the KWC team has been building on their experience in cupping, brewing, and roasting. Both Paulina and Steven have been students of these crafts for over 20 years combined. Together, they are pillars of honest education. This knowledge was not built over time but rather hard work resulted in being able to study coffee culture abroad in places like Peru , Guatemala and Australia.
We are lucky to not just have them on our team but to witness their growth as they continue to build careers with us.

The KWC roasting program ⚡️
True story: we began private label roasting before sourcing green coffee. Over the years, many friends encouraged us to create our own label, so we did. However, we couldn’t do it without being intentional and approachable.
Today, we offer 10 coffees, 3 tiers of coffee, and 1 decaf option. This approach brings us closer to our roasters at the destination since we roast frequently in multiple machines. We prioritize our roasters in order of scale: Link roaster, Allio bullet, and 12kg Diedrich. This means we have no minimum requirements and can better understand our green coffee distribution system.

WHY NO CUPPING NOTES OR SCORES ?
We consider roasters to be part of the sourcing team. Sending out a cup score or price could negatively impact your cupping experience. Happens to us all the time.
WHY NO FAVORITES ?
We do have coffee we like but maybe it’s not for your community, cafe or service. We should source what you need and really want. As you can see our list is long we need it to be fair for all growers or producers to get the same chance.
