I can’t quite wrap my head around the immense grief I am feeling. I could only express myself through these... what comfort is kuya Datu Arellano’s Tahigami music... and I was inspired to visualize it and channel my feelings...... I’ve been learning this in NY through my ACC fellowship for about two months now.... Attending different workshops and classes.. oh what a journey...... mixed emotions...... i will carry you both with me... sir GA & sir Winter. Thank you for everything.. i am very grateful and honored......

faces dissolving into glare
languages colliding midair
Times Square hums
like a heart that doesn’t wait
and I—
between departure and arrival
between who I was
and who I’m becoming
learning how to sit
inside the motion
sirens wail
screens flicker
hands brush past hands
no one stays
long enough
to ask
this city doesn’t hold you
it moves through you
and somehow
in all this noise
I hear the absence
a name I don’t say
a pulse I once matched
now echoing
still—
the concrete softens at dusk
and I soften too
not broken
just unfolding
a little lonelier
a little braver
becoming
in a place
that never stops
night (almost) happens
in a handful of windows,
each small yes/no burning
behind somebody’s curtain
fog climbs the roof
on bare, slow feet—
quiet lightning that remembers
what the sky forgot to say
and here, beneath
this sideways cathedral of brick & branch,
a heart misbuttons its future
and walks on
