Knotfall

Shoreline is out now 🖤 Really worked my ass off on this. I wanted to create a whole world for this album, it’s something that’s been living in my head since 2023. It’s wild that it’s finally out and I can share it with you all. Paintings, books, movies, music; I’ve kind of filtered all the art I’ve been into the past few years into this record. Put on some headphones, turn the lights down, and take a trip. It’s been mainly a collaboration between me (Sami) and @janna_bb_ . She is an audio genius tbh and it was so fun crafting each song piece by piece. I would usually demo entire songs and then bring them to her, and we would turn those lo-fi demos into real songs. I don’t have a lot of technical know-how, but whenever I would say things like “I want this to sound more like a haunted house” Johanna knew exactly what we needed to achieve that sound. I loved working at @headroomphiladelphia what a magical place. Cozy and so well-equipped. Also shoutout @kylepulley who was always walking by, overhearing what we were working on. I also wanna thank Aidan from @candlepin_records for believing in Knotfall and for all the support. He does so much to help the scene and to build community. Candlepin has such an awesome roster of bands, you can check out anything they release and it will be creative and interesting. Mexico City-based shoegaze outfit @mintfieldband performs live on Tuesday, May 19 with locals @knotfall2 and @sherrieband ! Mexico City based band Mint Field is one of these bands that make it shine. Guided by Estrella del Sol and Sebastian Neyra. Mint Field creates a unique blend of avant dream pop and shoegaze with some touches of trip hop that explores the nostalgia and melancholy of daily life with strong guitars and voices that are like sighs. Intrumentation and atmospheres are accompanied by delicate, harmonious and ethereal voices that are fundamental part of the sound. #philamoca

drums 🫶My favorite instrument to play and write for. Guitars are cool, singing is cool, but drums ily 4ever. I love movies, and I tried to craft this first Knotfall album as if it was a film. There is kind of an arc. Atmospheric intro, dramatic finish. I found inspiration in a lot of stuff while writing. Our debut album Shoreline comes out April 17th via @candlepin_records It’s a concept album inspired by horror movies. It’s about a house by the water where creepy stuff happens, and the people who are haunted by it. Settings include a graveyard, a backyard and the bottom of the sea.
